The Devils signed left wing Dean McAmmond to a two-way contract Friday. Ita TMs a one-year deal with an NHL salary of $500,000. GM Lou Lamoriello said McAmmond, 36, will be joining the team shortly, but wona TMt play tonight in Ottawa because he is "under the weather" with a cold.

Ilkka Pikkarainen is still slowed by the flu. Defensemen Jay Leach and Rob Davison, along with center Tim Sestito, all cleared waivers at noon Wednesday and were assigned to the Devils' AHL minor league affiliate in Lowell, Mass.
