Jared Feathers scored a goal in the 50th minute, and Marietta's defense worked its third shutout in a row as the Tigers defeated New Philadelphia, 1-0, in an East Central Ohio League match Tuesday at Devola Soccer Complex. Marietta settled for scoreless ties with Parkersburg South and Athens last week before the offense finally found the back of the net against the Quakers.

Volleyball: Maple Heights beats Lorain in battle for LEL lead

LORAIN - First place in the Lake Erie League left Lorain and headed east as Maple Heights used a strong game at the net and benefited by a ton of Titans unforced errors in winning 22-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-23 to remain unbeaten in league play. "We have a young team and this is the first time they were playing in a high-pressure situation," Lorain coach Lynne Rositano said.

London cruises past Academy

Lady Warriors hand GAHS first league loss

The Warren volleyball team earned revenge for its August 21st loss at Gallia Academy, Wednesday night when the Lady Warriors upset the Blue Angels in four games. The Southeastern Ohio Athletic League leading Blue Angels won the first game by a 25-21 count, but Warren claimed the next three games 25-18, 25-23 and 25-18.
