I really need someone to help with getting my teeth fixed. I'm tired of people teasing and making fun of me.

Geez Lavern, if you find someone to help you, would you give them my name too?

Dental care service are great and expensive but there is the reason for it to be expensive. Dental jobs are very risky and the apparatus used are highly expensive and apart from those, experience matters a lot, so we are actually paying for the quality and service by by the dentist, A good dentist will definitely charge more fees then the ususal one.
Thanks and Regards, Kevin |

Hi Lavern, Call the dental society nearest you and ask if there are any clinics or dentists who work on a sliding scale. Check the yellow pages to see who offers easy payment plans. Nothing is going to be cheap unless you find a university dental clinic and that will at least be reasonable. You might also check with your local health department.
If nothing is available start with repairing one tooth at a time...it will be worth any sacrifices you have to make. |

While i dont know your income situation you may want to see if you qualify for Medicaid. Here in MA i was sitting in the dentist office and overheard them telling a patient over the phone about it

I wonder if the health reform situation will address dental care. Good oral and teeth care is very vital to overall health.

I haven't heard a peep about dental. Its possible its buried in the 1,000+ page bill but I doubt it |

There needs to be a program for those of us that don't qualify for Medicaid. I ended up going to a dental school to have all my teeth removed and full dentures. The original estimated prices was over $8000. I negotiated a 37% discount and got it all done for $5556, but that was money I didn't have. If not for the good will of a lot of people and a emergency fund raiser for me, it would not have happened.
What made it an emergency was that I'm a mechanical heart valve patient and I had two severely infected teeth, with many others soon to follow suit. I was told when it was over that had I waited one more week, that infection would have killed me. I searched the internet for help and found next to none. Our state runs a program, but it's on a dentists volunteer basis and a huge waiting list. One person I know has been waiting over 3 years and had to go bankrupt and get it done for the same reasons I did. No one in America should have to bankrupt themselves for needed medical care. It's happening all too often though. I did not see anything in the new bills to indicate that anything in the dental world will change. |
