On October 14, however, an FDA panel voted 10 to 2 to approve Fampridine to improve walking speed. I have been using slow-release 4-aminopyridine, the chemical name for Fampridine SR, for over 1.5 years with no adverse side effects and a decided improvement in my walking ability. I hope the full FDA follows the October 14 panel's lead.
