Helping a bedwetter be comfortable is a huge part of helping the child to adjust to being a bedwetter. No child wants to wet the bed and most will usually agree quickly to the wearing of protection so that although they are wet their bed stays dry. Protection can take many forms and it is up to the parents to help the child choose something to wear that everyone is in agreement with. For older bedwetters there are cloth pullup style pants that offer padding that is adjustable to meet the absorbancy needs. Snap Eze is one Happy Heiny's is another, Motherease and Mother of Eden and Nikky's also make bedwetters pants that will help the child feel comfortable and not look like a diaper when they are being worn. Not being diapered or looking like their in diapers is necessary to the childs self esteem and does help them feel more comfortable about wetting the bed.
Sometimes it happens every night and others maybe 3 or more nights a week.
Regardless if you as a parent decide to use the pants they should be worn every night just in case.
I know we have 3 bedwetters in our house and they wear bedwetting pants to bed under the pj's which generally keep the beds dry and help with the laundry.
My advice is keep you chin up, make sure that the doctor sees the child to make sure there are no urinary infections or the like.
Once this has been determined then between parents and child a choice of what to wear should be made. Today there are a lot of pants to choose from.
