Los Angeles police released the names Monday of two men arrested in connection with the killing of a 24-year-old man who was trying to help his grandfather who was being robbed outside his Sun Valley home.

Manuel Flores made a simple trip to a supermarket a mile from his home in Sun Valley for calling cards to telephone a son in Guatemala, never realizing his life would change forever.

Charges were related to the 2007 depositing of some two million dollars in funds from Congress, and his move to keep the accrued interest as profit, some $42,200. The case against Morales, dating back to June 2009, comes in final weeks of his time in public office -- his legislative term ends on January 14, 2012.
