Carll, Pakkala claim 4-Ball Match Play
Kevin Carll and Matt Pakkala beat Kevin Hayashi and Lance Taketa, 3 and 2, yesterday to capture the Aloha Section PGA's Nike Golf/Golf Concepts 4-Ball Match Play Championship at Oahu Country Club.
Kua to defend his Turtle Bay Amateur title
Manoa Cup champion TJ Kua will defend his title at the seventh annual Turtle Bay Amateur, Saturday and Sunday at the resort's Fazio and Palmer Courses.

Kevin Hayashi of Hilo Municipal fired an opening 3-under-par 67 for a one-shot lead in the Aloha PGA Professional Championship and Stroke Play Championship yesterday at the Honolulu Country Club.
Former Hilo resident Kimberly Kim advanced, but two other Hawaii golfers did not after yesterday's first round of match play at the U.S. Girls' Junior Amateur Championship at Bedminster, N.J. Kim, now living in Arizona, defeated Kyle Roig of Florida 3 and 2 at the Trump National Golf Club's Old Course, a par-72, 6,203-yard layout.
Ralbovsky named top instructor
Kevin Ralbovsky, a member of the Aloha Section PGA and director of the KMR School of Golf, is Golf Digest's Top Golf Instructor in Hawai'i in its new biennial ranking, published in the August issue.
Fujikawa joins Hall of Famers in Maui Open
A group of Hawai'i Golf Hall of Famers and Tadd Fujikawa will be on Maui this weekend for the Kahili Maui Open.
