Eventually, they will go to Portugal or Spain to search for records of a vessel with similar cargo that went missing.
If they determine the ship was originally from Spain then you can bet that those thieving bastards in the Spanish government will try to steal it from the discoverers. That's exactly what those larcenous lice are trying to do to the company which found an old Spanish ship in the Atlantic.

When there is money involved every one wants a piece.
Still, an amazing discovery. If it's 500 years old and off southern Africa then it's probably Portuguese.
