If they treat a great employee like that, I'll stop watching NBC 6 nightly news. It's a shame because I enjoyed Mr. Connable and his professionalism. If you ask me Kelly Craig, as much as I like her, makes rude comments in the mornings when children are watching.

So let me get this straight...Joel Connable was fired because he and some co-workers were going to take a vacation that they themselves were paying for out of their own pockets. Even thought the hotel DID offer to comp the rooms, Mr. Connable turned this offer down and was indeed going to pay on his own credit card, yet he was terminated for billing the vacation that he never took at all in the end. This is just really messed up. I haven't been watching NBC6 as often as I used to. It's gone downhill...even the website has seemingly gone on the cheap.

This is a shame. I switched to 6 after Dwight Lauderdale left 10, after watching for decades. Channel 6 is really the only alternative for professional journalism. I suggest that those of us who care, write to Ch. 6.

He'll get a convertor box and HD antenna...that only gets Channel 6.
When it comes to employment, it comes with parameters. If you stray outside the lines, you have no defense, like it or not. It's just the way it is.

Joel wasnt told specifically why he was fired, and it was all supposed to be in writing per his contract. Based on the facts in this story, I don't see what he did wrong. He used his own card for the room and accepted no comp offer. Then he got fired right after? Doesn't add up. There is something else going on here. If NBC really is standing by their actions, then they should have no problem informing him as per his contract why he was let go.

Channel 7 is the worst news especially Carmel (but its evident that channel 7 oversensationalizes everything they put out)...I saw her one day in a courtroom and sad to say she is just as ugly in person as she is on television...She and her co workers go beyond being professional journalists in their duties and it is evident...Yes, I know you responders are saying to yourself "then don't watch channel 7" and I don't...TRASH 7...As annoying was Belky's nightly "CHOW CHOW" which I am sure she still does..

Sorry, but hands down, Judy from Pompano Honda is the most obnoxious sickening voice one will hear on radio or television. The most nasal voice I've ever heard. Why do owners insist on doing their own commercials?

Best u leave Jackie be.....u should be proud of someone who has achieved in life while others like yourself are left to "hate" and pass judgement on people they don't even know about. Such a sad existence is yours. I don't believe you would happen to be the 1st hispanic anchor on a major network....no, that would be Jackie. Guess u wouldn't have the conviction or balls to then leave that prestigious position a year later to return to your hometown and raise your family while providing quality service to your community as a main anchor at NBC6 for many years now.... And u wouldn't happen to be on the board of trustees at UM... No again and over and over again. Pass judgement on Jackie....huh, you are not qualified.......Biiaatchh!

NBC used to be really good, in my opinion, they have made so many mistakes lately, ie: Late Night. What a mess, just like them. Miss Joel Connable too, not to mention Joe Carter. He was there for like 5 minutes. Get it together people!

Alex is a moron. Why would anyone be so proud of the claim that Jackie Nespral was the first hispanic anchor on a major network is ludicrous. It's shameful and not a source of pride that this glorified prompter reader took the seat of what could actually be a hispanic female REAL journalist. As a hispanic I tell you speak for yourself as far as pride for this "Sabado Gigante" prop girl pretending to be a journalist you imbecile.

Connable wins lawsuit

News just in that we heard here at the Broward County courthouse. Joel has won the lawsuit he filed against NBC. Not sure how much, but it went to a Federal court across the street and they only do that when it is above one million. Congrats Joel

producer attempts suicide

There are reports that the producer, Tammy Delgado who lost the lawsuit for slander and defamation tried to kill herself the other day. A police report from Weston, Florida describes how she drank three bottles of some sort of liquor and was found passed out on her kitchen floor by her young child. Has anyone herd this as well. What happens to someone like this? I assume NBC fired her after she lost her lawsuit and was proven to have slandered fellow employees and write rumors on Internet blogs about other employees having AIDS and being gay. Please respond. All I saw was the police report.
