No More lies spins a happy tale....
I fought with 2nd Bn, 501st Abn Inf., 101st Abn Div at Phuoc Yen then again at the Song Bo River 2 klicks NW of Hue. We had some popular force and "Black Panther" soldiers from the 1st ARVN Div with us and they were fucken worthless.
Outside of ARVN Rangers and some Viet Airborne units - the rest were for the most part hopeless. The ARVN officers were more interested in shaking down their troops...the appointments to ARVN command positions were politically motivated and most didn't have a clue how to soldier or command and the rich Vietnamese sent their kids to Paris to spend time whoring while their less well off brothers were conscripted to serve in the ARVN.
With all the training we gave them...all the weapons and ammo they couldn't hold out against the VC and NVA without us taking up the brunt of the fight.
After 9 fucking years wouldn't you think the ARVN would stand and fight.
Maybe the other readers here would like to know what unit you fight with cowboy?

Bill I am with you 100%! you hit to the right button ! The south VN gorverment just a puppet. most of the battles the ARVN fought were definetly relly on American advisers. without a "father" a "son" could not walk. At the same time NVA equipped less in quantity and quality, They high comands were well plans and tactics, always "suprise the enermy". no wonder Westmoreland say: " a respected enermy"
Without mentioning, there were alot of corruption shit going on in South Vietnam gorverment-system. Using American-aid turn to personel luxury. The South VietNamese had no determine to fight the communist like the South Korean do. again they were just "lazy" rellied on the "father".
BIll, I am glad your goverment saw that and in 1974 they did not want to fuck with that shit anymore, less that a year they could not stand a chance.
Us gorverment never paid an attention or visited Thieu or Cao Ky,(after 1975 while they were living in US) they are quite useless . Funny thing is these people here now crying "American-allied abandonned us". for my understanding "allied" like partners. In war world 2 French could be allied with American, the British could be allied with American same as the Rusian, You have this I have that then together is called "allied". In the 60s-70s what kind the shit the South Vietnam offered they called themself "allied" with US ?
