ellen,

Now that you have cited a comment by Mr. Bush to support your belief about religion freedom in Vietnam, you should tell your underlings to tone down on their comments about the American imperialist otherwise it would damage the newly forged friendship with your former enemy. It is called diplomatic in case you don't know. I hope that your kinds in VN Airline don't do to the US diplomats what they did to the Belgium counterpart. How can anyone in their right mind defend this kind of thuggish act?

As for the religion freedom in VN. Bush was careful in his comments. He was of course, diplomatic in his hosting of a foreign leader. But his words were clear, that is vietcongs have made progress in term of personal and religious freedom. It means that vietcongs still violate freedom of religion.

Yours joyful comments and the childish ranting by con chot remind me of the reactions by vietcong supporters on this forum about the launch of VN's first satellite early this year. Silly lots, you all are.

Take this note. Vietnam still has limited freedom of religion and it is still lagging behind other civilised countries on this issue.

Freedom and democracy at work in India for over 60 years.

The Rise Of India - many more Phds but plagued by problems, corruption and poverty
"Per-capita income is just $460, and 300 million Indians subsist on $1 a day or less. Lethargic courts can take 20 years to resolve contract disputes. And what pass for highways in Bombay are choked, crumbling roads lined with slums, garbage heaps, and homeless migrants sleeping on bare pavement. More than a third of India's 1 billion citizens are illiterate, and just 60% of homes have electricity. Most bureaucracies are bloated, corrupt, and dysfunctional. The government's 10% budget deficit is alarming."

Child Labour in India
"After nearly 59 years of Independence and over a decade after India became a signatory to the United Nations Convention on Child Rights, our children continue to be the most neglected segment. Statistics reveal that India has 17 million child labourers -- the highest in the world."
http://www.indiatogether.org/photo/2006/chi-l...

"India is the largest example of a nation plagued by the problem of child labour. Estimates cite figures of between 60 and 115 million working children in India -- the highest number in the world (Human Rights Watch 1996, 1)."

With due respect, my comment is a reply to what allen and that khung parrot posted above.

You read the report again and you form your own opinion.

If you need proof about the limited religious freedom in Vietnam you are either blind or recalcitrant vietcong.

If Vietcong government forbid religions to ordain their own priests there is no freedom there, is there?

Vietcong should not interfere into the running of religion and allow people to practice their own religions. Until Vietcongs do so, you can not have freedom of religion in Vietnam
