hi,im 11 how old are you? I was wondering if you could let me know what Venezuela is like for my school project? And if you could tell me some things that are going on there...

It's not safe at all. It's run by a ridiculous socialist-autocrat named Hugo Chavez, and it has one of the highest kidnapping rates in the world, after the Philippines and Algeria. The country is a mess, so if you want to visit S.America, go to Brazil or Argentinta instead.

venezuela is a vary nice country at the moment we are in the eye of the world, why? becouse for vary long time we have a president who care for pool people as well for the upper class how safe it is ? how safe is "paris" "madrid" as safe you want it to be ,tourist are always a eassy target so is how coution you are not showing off and playing it cool. good luck if you come here must visit the island of margarita.)

We were there with friends who live there 2 years ago...Chavez is nuts and has become unstable. We love the people in Venezuela..warm and beautiful...but I would suggest Costa Rica.Went there last year with my daughters high school class and were treated well...the country is beautiful and is very US friendly. In Ven. we were treated wonderfully by those who knew our friends, but I never felt safe. We were ripped off at stores with the wrong change, had a difficult time renting a car (which our native friends helped us with). I would not return to Venezuela without our friends who live there.

Chelsea..see my comments on the forum. Venezuela is not a place for 11 year old girls unless you are visiting friends or family who live in Venezuela that can show you around. If you already know someone there they will treat you like family...good people. But, I would not ever go there on holiday as long as Chavez is in power.

It is true, one should never refer like that to your country, but Muchacha is right in saying that Vzla has become a very hostile place, specially if you are "catire" [blond], no matter if you are poor, if you dont have the characteristic of the general population you will be branded automatically and attacked. And you whatever your name is, I live in the US, because Id rather get $100 cleaning toilets but knowing that I will have a chance of not getting kill bcuz of my shoes than making $1000 working in a bank wearing a suit and living paranoid becuz I make money, at least here I can leave my car door open and my cd's and my cd player in the car and no one will break in, people like you who only see the good side of the country are the reason why the country is the way it is, you should also consider the lack of independence in the ministries, specially "Contraloria de la Republica", corruption, and all the crazy things that are going on right now. It is a shame that most vzlans like "pan pa' hoy, hambre pa' mañana" and "pan y circo" instead of work, sweat, and rightiousness. Think, use your head, and read between the lines....

In case you haven't noticed we have about 11 million illegal immigrants in this country right now who would love to be legal citizens of the US. How many are begging to come into Venezuela? It's not the US that has caused the poverty in your country..it is your government past and present. Aligning himself with Castro and thumbing his nose at the US makes good press. The US has so many good things going for it I couldn't even begin to list them. And yes, we do take care of our people. I don't know where you are getting your information but the US military is not comprised of poor sons of bitches who cannot handle the "harsh" life in the US. You really need to come here. Our boys in the military (all volunteer by the way) each have their own reasons for joining the military. No one in this country is forced to go. If you have a low income you can go to college basically for free or using a low interest student loan. If you are a young mother there are many programs available for housing, childcare and welfare. Healthcare is provided and foodstamps for those who need it. You have been fed alot of garbage about life in the US. Our standards of living are very good here, our media can say anything they choose, our banks and institutions are easily accessible and our paperwork goes through quickly and smoothly. We work hard and have programs available that you would find hard to believe based on your current opinion of our country.
My father was a WWII veteran and recipient of a purple heart who survived a glider crash on D-Day. He would still be proud to serve his nation at the ripe old age of 85 if asked. The Veterans Association provides free everything if he wants it, but he doesn't. He has alot of pride and has managed to raise his family and take care of himself. Don't knock us until you've been here. It's good to be true to your country, but it's also good to not be ignorant about another's.

Chavez is so full of himself and has convinced himself that the US is trying to overthrow him. The US has supported many Venezuelans who wanted a new regime. However, now that the votes are in the US is not doing anything to Chavez. His rhetoric looks ridiculous to those of us in the US who have no interest in fighting with the Venezuelans. Calling our president Hitler, a donkey, an alcoholic just makes Chavez look foolish to those outside of your country. He just wants to look mightier than he is by offending the big boys..he's just a big bully. Read something other than the Chavez controlled media so you can see what the rest of the world sees.

The US has many untapped resources of our own within this country. We will survive without Venezuelan oil. There are other countries that have as much if not more oil than Venezuela, and the US has the technology for alternative fuels. With gas prices high there is more incentive for getting the country away from oil.

As far as Iraq..we have lost thousands of our brave young men over there. We have given the ultimate sacrifice..our loved ones. We have gotten rid of a horrible man, Saddam Hussein, who gassed and mutilated his own people. We have put into place an opportunity for an Iraqi Run Government and we are planning to get out of there ASAP! The US has no intentions of staying in Iraq for any reason after the Iraqis are capable of securing their own nation.

You can choose to believe Chavez's rhetoric if it makes you happy...but believe me no one is planning on attacking Venezuela...especially not the US. The US would have no issues with a socially run Venezuela if it helped the people and if the leader wasn't a dictator who uses insults and fabrications to make a point. Chavez has continued to attack the leadership, morals and viability of a very powerful neighbor. If our goal was to overtake him it would have been completed by now.

The US has no interest in attacking, controlling or invading Venezuela..hopefully Chavez will never provoke something that was never intended by the US.
