Chavez: Russian jets can repel attack on Venezuela

Chavez claims the U.S. Navy's Fourth Fleet poses a threat to Venezuela, and he's vowing to push forward with a multibillion-dollar arms buildup aimed at dissuading a possible U.S. military strike.

Chavez is so stupid, we have more jets than that, if the Russians have it, I'm sure we have it too. Boasting is not healthy.

Chavez is playing with fire, he's going to get burned.

The only Country about to get burnt is the United States (Great Satan).

Chavez is the greatest leader to come along since Fidel Castro.

Ask Saddam how long Russian jets can hold off American fighters! Maybe two and a half minutes if he's real lucky.

One of these days he's going to realize nobody cares about him and his little tyrant game. If we took him seriously at all, he wouldn't still be making noise. Which will be sad when it happens as he's quite entertaining.

Chavez needs to create the image of a conflict in order to establish Martial law which would give Chavez control of the government.

Right now he can't do anything except strong arm
the voting public.

He's just another greasy power hungry sh*tstain.

Another Banana Republic dictator who tries to justify spending the country's money on a military buildup instead of educating the people. The enhanced military will really be designed to keep Venezuela's own people in line.

Nobody cares about him which is why he does so much public posturing otherwise his own countrymen might realize what a dud he really is.

The airspace over Iraq is certainly controlled by the USA, which is what I think Ben There's point was.

Well seems to be that the International Media does care about him, they're the one keeping this post alive were people that don't care about him like you always have something to say, even when they don't have a clue of what's really happening in Venezuela. You only know what they want you to know and there's nothing i can do about it.

its the groundspace we havent been able to secure thanks to our commander in chimp. If the Venezuelan pilots have any sense, they'll fly to a neutral country like Saddams pilots did back in 1991. Bush loves distractions and this might be the one hes looking for. Chavez is a little turd akin to Fidel. He's the grumpy neighbor yelling to stay off his lawn. Ignore him and his oil.

A three times democratly elected Banana Republic Dictator that tanks to him the standard of education in Venezuela is among the highest in the region. Of Venezuelans aged 15 and older, 93.4% can read and write, one of the highest literacy rates in the region. The literacy rate in 2003 was estimated to be 93.8% for males and 93.1% for females. The Venezuelan government remains committed to the idea that every citizen is entitled to a free education despite some criticism of the system. Venezuela has more than 90 institutions of higher education, with more than 6 million students. Higher education remains free under the 1999 constitution and was receiving 35% of the education budget, even though it accounted for only 11% of the student population. More than 70% of university students come from the wealthiest quintile of the population. To address this problem, the government established the Bolivarian University system in 2003, which designed to democratize access to higher education.
Brazil, Colombia and Argentina spend a lot more money in weaponry than Venezuela and the Country spending more money in weaponry and wars is the USA which economy in not doing so good latetly. The enhanced military will really be designed to keep Venezuela's own people in line? bro. you must be talking about the Virtual Venezuela created by the right wing through the International Media.

I'm 45 years old andl i have been in Venezuela during and before Chavez and he's one of the two Venezuelan President that really cares for Venezuela.
Do you think that the US Navy's fourth fleet poses a threat to Venezuela and the porpoise of the reactivation of the same?

NO... The fourth fleet had been around for quite some time, it just had many names since 1943.
Western Hemisphere group just to name one

We have been doing drug interdiction operations off the coast of Columbia and Venezuela and the lot for years.

Ship attach and detach on a continuous basis has they transit to different areas.

The Navy is more concerned about drug runner's than Chavez.

Chavez will take care of the people because they are the ones who will have to vote to give him the authority he needs. Once they start to believe his rhetoric about an American assault he will fear monger them into voting for martial law.

Once that's done, he will have control of the government and the people and he will not reliquish it once he has that power.

He already made a play last year for "president for 30 years" and the people stomped him.

They need to keep stomping him back.
I have more faith in the Venezuelan people doing the right thing than I do Chavez doing the right thing for them.

Chavez is wasting money on fighter jets he doesn't need. Unless he will use them against Columbia or Venezuela?

It's all a preception game.

The only mistake we made was to give him publicity and a voice in the media.

When we just should said "Chavez... who?"

dvd_abad: I AM in Venezuela. Why don't you talk about the 33% annual inflation? What about the collapsing health system? What about the 100,000 death from crime since Chavez is in government? What about the lack of basic products like milk, meat, toilette paper, etc. that has been the norm for the past few years? What about the total kidnapping of other branches of power?
Do you think we need to spend so many billions of dollars in useless weaponry when we have lack of so many basic services?

chavez even has difficulty milking his own cash cow, the oil industry. chavez refused to give pay raises to his under compensated oil workers and engineers. They all quit and many left the country to take high tech jobs elsewhere. chavez had to shut down oil pumps for months.
chavez tried to pull a fast one on the people and asked for changes in the country's constitution. The people weren't fooled and voted against chavez' changes.

Little: I regret to inform you that Chavez just passed 26 new laws using his "special powers" given by the rubber stamp congress and which implement a lot of the stuff that Chavez wanted to sneak out in the past election. No warning, no discussion... the laws simply went through in the middle of the night without most citizens even knowing about it. It does not matter that the people rejected these reforms last December. Talk about democracy.
