There are THOUSANDS that want to leave.
I wonder why.
Correct. Thanks to Hugo Chavez, Venezuela has lost thousands of people who have transferred their money and spending to the U.S.

Did you ever consider that maybe what we are saying about Bolivia is true? That we are actually being PERSECUTED for our beliefs in Bolivia?

I noticed you registered as being from Stuttgart, Germany when you are actually in Venezuela.

So what have YOU got to hide?

some people are not able to register because of political persecution. The media in Bolivia is being sensored and the people who are trying to spread the truth are being kidnapped. I am lucky, I was able to return to my apt in US, others are not so lucky. Although I am in the US Bolivia is my home and my heart is there screaming and fighting for Autonomia.

La Gringa, yes, I understand. As for registering or not, FYI:

When you use a computer on the Internet, it sends 2 pieces information along with all requests;

Your IP address - format is ###.###.## this will change, when you go to a different location or attach to a different network

Your MAC address - Media Access Control address. The unique serial number burned into Ethernet adapters, this DOES NOT change

Therefore, MAC identifying machine and IP the location, logged in or not, you're found by those evil ones that want to find you. Unless you use a different machine all the time AND a different location, that is!

Well I think your case is the best proof there's a real democracy in Venezuela...

Venezuela gets dangerous for journalists, says press watchdog

MADRID • A US-based press freedom group said yesterday that it is becoming increasingly more dangerous for independent journalists in Venezuela to do their jobs as President Hugo Chavez seeks to silence critics of his leftist government.

Speaking at the Inter American Press Association’s annual assembly, David Natera, the editor of regional Venezuelan paper Correo del Caroni, said journalists have faced “unprecedented violence, insecurity and impunity” since Chavez came to power a decade ago.

“The work of independent media and journalists is becoming ever more difficult and dangerous,” Natera said as he presented a report by the association on press freedom in the Latin American country at the assembly.

Chavez has sought to set up a “communications hegemony” by using public money to control the majority of the means of mass communication which he has used to “impose ideological and proselytizing contents”, he added.

The report on press freedoms in Venezuela, as well as those on other nations, will be approved later this week at the body’s general assembly in Madrid which wraps up on Tuesday.

Since coming to power in 1999, Chavez has introduced laws that allow the government to close media outlets that violate strict broadcasting norms and reforms increasing prison sentences for libel and slander.

Several high-profile journalists have faced criminal charges for offences ranging from libel to homicide in what they have said are trumped-up charges aimed at silencing criticism of the government.
