I have been going to Uruguay's beaches ever since the end of the dictatorship, and can attest, that the beaches are indeed lovely. I spent my NYC winters down in Punta del Este, Uruguay, which has been, up until recently, my best kept secret. It is so beautiful there and there are not many Americans which makes is a pleasure to be there. Americans are not the best people in the world to go traveling with, they complain too much. Travel with the English and have a blast.

hey ALLESSANDRO ,you forget to said who generate the dictatorship in south america(uruguay and the rest of this beautiful nation).

I'm from Uruguay so I can testify to Alessandro's theory of the beaches and Punta del Este or Punta Gorda is beautiful as well
