San Joaquin's remaining Episcopalians to gather for reconciliation, inclusion, celebration

A January 26 gathering of continuing Episcopalians in the Diocese of San Joaquin and national church leaders, "Moving Forward, Welcoming All," will focus on reconciliation, inclusion, and celebration, event organizers said. "We are just so encouraged; we're looking forward to welcoming more people," said Cindy Smith, president of Remain Episcopal, a group which opposed the December vote to realign the Central California Valley diocese with the Argentina-based Province of the Southern Cone, which has about 22,000 members and encompasses the South American nations of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. Bishop John-David Schofield had urged the realignment, approved by 42 of the diocese's 47 congregations. Clergy approved the split 70-12 and laity voted 103-10 for realignment.

You are full of baloney, DataRat.

In any case, looking at the numbers gives interesting results.

18% of the diocesan delegate clergy voted to stay with the Episcopal Church. Only 10% of the congregational representation voted to stay. Bishop Schofield has led his diocese into another land. There will be a fair amount of fallout from this action that will have ramifications on the behavior of the rest of the congregations and dioceses, about 15% nationally, that are contemplating making a similar move.

The archbishop of the Southern Cone, Gregory Venables, has visited our own diocese of Springfield to consult with our bishop, Peter Beckwith, undoubtedly to discuss a similar arrangement. I listened to him preach and met him, personally. But, here, I don't think the bishop has as much support, except that as in all politics, there has been a lot of shuffling of people and positions and heavy-handed pressure to engineer a successful vote, if and when it comes to that.

As to Mr. Jackson's motivations to which you have alluded above, they are his and are no reflection upon either you or me. I certainly appreciate the opportunity to post thoughts at this site and, obviously, so do you. Therefore, I see no reason to insult him for the service that he provides and as a brother, caution you to refrain from such uncalled for insults.

So, instead of obsessing about what you think another may do which you do not do, but in fact you do not know about another, how about working on reconciling scripture with the reality of modern revelation of fact regarding human behavior. The conversation would be much more valuable to all. After all, this is the crux of the disagreement and its facets and characteristics and justifications need to be fully explored in order to understand and see through the conflict in the recognition of truth that is precipitating within each of us.

Sodomite activists like Thomas Jackson glory in
denigrating Christ's Church. And the apostate
American Episcopal denomination certainly lends
itself to ~that~!

Satan always being hard at work manufacturing
counterfeit "Christian" churches.

Thus it is in our present evil era. However:

"Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor
idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor
~homosexuals~, nor thieves, nor the covetous,
nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers,
shall inherit the kingdom of God"
(1 Corinthians 6:9 NASB)

Your opinions are hollow, lacking any semblance of considerable reason. You prefer to hide behind scriptural snippets, which can easily be posted to defend any position, including yours.

You call yourself "Theology Police" while you behave like a theology burglar, stealing sripture out of context and failing to reconcile your points with modern research and a modern realization of human behavior.

What kind of false respect should be accorded to your opinions, DR?

You call Thomas Jackson a "Sodomite activist." Do you know this man, personally, so that you can comment with authority about his personal behavior, which is none of your business, anyway?

You regard The American Episcopal Church as apostate, and yet, you present yourself as an authority on the website denoted as Episcopal Church Forum. This forum presents articles on many subjects over a broad range of TEC activities. But, you prefer to place your thoughts here, focusing upon issues of same-sex relationships, ostensibly because TEC is involved in resolving conflict over this issue. However, I find no effort on your part to investigate and present knowledge which could be used to find ground of common understanding. I find only hollow reason in your presentation.

Then you provide obfuscation and diversion. You say Satan is at work? The tactics that you employ are commonly attributed to Satan. Is this who you represent, Satan, in your posts here, DR?

Wasn't it Jesus who said, "Take the log out of your own eye, before attempting to remove the splinter from your brother's eye."
