Rolling with the punches as truth marches on

The article inspired me - and my faith in America. As a former Minnesotan - who grew up with strong principles of democracy - now espoused only by Democrats. We then relocated to Baltimore., MD for a time .. but now live in Richmond, VA. This article will NOT appear in Richmond Times Dispatch (sadly) and I feel immense sorrow for the many Americans who need to - but will not - read it. I am saddened by how many Americans no longer want to look at both sides of an issue. When a recent email with clear untruths about Obama was sent to me by a friend in Minn (now a Republican), I responded with a similar email that refuted and with "Fact Finding" told the truth about the items listed. I sent it telling her I wasn't trying to change anyone's mind - just trying to make sure Americans can make fully informed choices based on TRUTH rather than malicious lies. I asked her to help with my mission by sending the email on to everyone on her list who received the first one. It has been 2 months - and I have not heard from her since that time. What a sad statement - when in the name of religion or racism or bigotry - we are no longer willing or able to give people BOTH sides of an issue - and feel the need to safeguard or personal prejudices and in this case - something we want to believe is true - even when the data and science do not support it.
I applaud you Garrison Keillor. Fer Sure! You betcha! GO MINN! GO DEMS!

Garrison Keillor is today's Mark Twain, right under our very noses. I think he is a national treasure. Whenever I start to get upset about the direction this country is going, all I have to do is listen to him and I know that everything is going to be all right. I don't usually get too work up about things, but he is the real deal.
