Owner of Colwyn Bay pier is bankrupt

THE future of one of Wales's last remaining piers was uncertain last night after its latest owner was declared bankrupt.

Steve, sorry to hear the news. Hope you can sort it out. Sadly, maybe you made a brave attempt at a financially impossible task? Possibly piers just aren't viable to ressurect in this day and age...in 200 years they will be viewed as wonders of the ancient world and people will admire those who tried against all the odds to preserve them...and rue the fact that none (by then) are around.

Many piers do just fine, though? Next town along from Colwyn Bay is Llandudno and their pier does very well indeed financially. Colwyn pier needs to be run by a charity, who can apply for grants etc to get the expensive repair work done.
