Fergy, I don't know the parties/locations/markets involved so I can't really comment. I can't imagine any yard being any kind of value unless it's given to you. You couldn't give me one.

What are you doing on this blog. My mustache is now out of control and Waynes mullet is getting almost too long to be called a mullet. Get back to our personal grooming and clean your trailer while you are at it. Oh, did that rash go away with the cream that you bought with your small severance package. Carolina is fine and sending in record numbers. All is well for that CFC. Probably because you are not there tracking failure around the place.

The last I heard was she was in Fayetteville, NC so if she hasn't been on cops yet she should be soon.

Word from my friends at the new WBS is that this was an 11th hour transaction. And if this is so doesn't it make you wonder why BIP didn't want to take on this transaction alone? Does this look like a ready to liquidate to them also? Just asking for advice from Old Emp and D Noonan. If LT is involved you know it's going to go bad somewhere. I have a feeling that they will smell the glove.
I read the other article and it sounds like these guys have the right idea on how to run these yards. Run them as an independent local operation with the buying power of a large operation. Do whats right for their customers locally, forget the national builders, and provide service. I don't know enough about LT but I am sure that if asked he would tell you he was following orders and that he would have changed many things if he could. I think they are taking the right approach its just a matter of whether they make it happen.

Charlotte is billing 25% of what they were 2 years ago...record numbers my ass...Raleigh is doing better but still 50% of their numbers a year or two ago...but only going down as they have now lost 6 builders to the new King and more to come

After reading the HCN article, I come to find out that BIP is involved. One of the partners is Lonnie Schield - a stand-up individual whom I respect. He is a former builder with a customer perspective. Sad that they chose LT to involve - that will probably end up being their largest error, but as for the principals at BIP, they are top-notch.
I heard Lonnie S was a poor judge of people.....now it is confirmed.

That should have been the way since the beginning, CORP HAS NO CLUE ON LOCAL PREFERENCES, corp always wanted to change how local builders operated, push them to using something knew, use GE credit cards, trying to force thier hand, thats what napolean always did, try to tell them how to run thier business, napolean always knew best, HE did a fine job at LJ'S, CHURCH'S and at MACOMB, NAPOLEAN RAN THEM ALL INTO THE GROUND NOW HE'S PART OF THIS NEW PURCHASE, good luck to all, He also had paid severence's twice,to 4 different individuals twice what a concept

Tell me more about this Napolean. If it's the same person at the location that one of my buddies works at, he sounds like a winner. From what I hear he's doing nothing to increase business outside of trying to blow more smoke up everyone's skirt. Is this the way he did business in MI? Wish business was better here at Ferguson so I could get my 2 buddies in so they don't have to put up with this crap anymore. One of my buddies told me that he's watching business fly to the old mom and pops and it's sad. Hope they still have jobs come the spring.

He plays favorites, doesn't know computers, blows smoke up the yazoo in a major way, always wanted us to do things against corp policy especially when it would benefit him, nevers wants to deal with the little stuff(manusha bullshit), try's to delegate all the manusha bullshit, has this goofiest laugh as soon as the boss's walk in, has the ability to walk with in 5ft of someone and totally ignore them!

don't under estimate the longing for the old carolina builders feeling from the customers which may i remind you are stll very loyal to the original gang
It'll take more than longing. Lee doesn't have the infrastructure to be the "Old Carolina Builders", KM is all talk, CJ lost customers to his own coordinators. TW was a good hire, but he'll be dissappointed.

If you ever read anything about Warren Buffet (not Jimmy Buffet)his main philosphy was to buy good companies, provide great economies of scale when it comes to purchasing, HR, working capital, and accounting but leave the actual operation in tact. On one of his interviews he said, "I buy good companies and simply ask the managers in what areas we can help." This means they trust the core business to manage itself in the local market or business environment while improving on the efficiencies of the back office. He also beleived in maintaining the local identity.....names, logos, and personnel.... Considering he is the second richest guy on the planet i think he knows a thing or two....(plus i have never heard of anything bad about the guy?)

It appears to me that you are right on with your statement. Mr. Buffett is not afraid to posture himself to take advantage of the next upturn in the market. He just spent $34 billion on BNSF railroad.
In the last issue of PRO-SALES, the Stock bigshots show that they have been indulging that Kool-Aid again!
If they would let the local managers run their respective yards, hold the accountable, instead of micromanaging you would see positive changes in store moral, profitability, and a stronger bond with their customers.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Taurus

Someone isn't mucking about today, and if they're annoyed about something they'll come right out with it. This means you could be on the receiving end of some zingers, but equally it means that you'll be giving as good as you get. Now, although it will be very tempting to let off steam by giving someone an earful, aren't there better directions in which to channel your energy?
