Islamophobia Exposed: Quran Exposed Islamophobics 1400 years ago
As you all know that it is a well established medical fact that Islamophobia is an Obsessive Compulsive Mental Disorder...
Terrorists have no religion but they all use religion for committing their terrorist crimes.
Should we fail to do this, the world economic order will collapse and we will be buying gas for 20 dollars a gallon.
I acknowledge the harmful influence of the Christian - Jewish right and what are called the Neocons in the USA. The chronic mistakes of PNAC. Western actions in the Middle East have consistently proved unhelpful. I would argue this is more incompetence than hostility. Certainly, all of us on Topix (I trust) agree that we want peace in the Middle East, Iraq and Afghanistan. I agree we need to unite against all war-mongers. Arguably, the worst of those are religionists. Many war-mongers are sectarians and terrorist leaders in the Middle East.

You suggest that the Quran has the answer? It is all the fault of Islamophobia? Are all people who disagree with Muslims just ignorant? Are all of us in the west who long to see an end to reigns of terror like those of Saddam simply wicked imperialists? What about the responsibility we feel to our fellow man? That fellowship is not connected to religion at all.

So Muslim states will now rush to open embassies in Iraq and help stabilise it? It seems to me that the increase in oil prices was largely due to limitation of supply relative to demand. It seems most likely to me that the oil producing nations decided this was the best way to hit back at the West and bring more money (power) to themselves. I was not surprised by Ahmedinejad’s ‘the powerful nations are going down’ comment. I think he misunderstands why the West is strong.

Muslims wish to have it all ways. When Muslims are terrorists, they have no religion. When they commit crimes against those who do not 'follow the religion' correctly, they are not good Muslims. When they invade Afghanistan, they are defending Muslims? I am not anti-Muslim by nature. I am defensive by necessity.'Islam' is one of the worst things to happen to the UK in recent decades, IMO.

It seems some attitudes by 'good Muslims' can facilitate the terrorists, as some Muslims see themselves as defending Islam.

Arguably, it is views like yours that the terrorists use to help substantiate their actions. What about unmitigated condemnation of all terrorism committed by Muslims? You try to distance yourself from them by simply disowning them. Do you think the pilots of the 9/11 planes would have hit the building if they thought they might possibly have got Islam a slightly wrong? Disowning them only works if it stops them. Otherwise, it can make ordinary Muslims look like they still sympathise with them a little. You would do better with outright condemnation of all atrocities, especially by Muslims - if Muslims say they have something special to offer. If the terrorists are not Muslims, it seems they are not being made aware of that very effectively. Is it really Muslims who have all the understanding? Is it the people that any Muslim says is ‘following Allah’ who know best??

Right and wrong have nothing to do with religion. Only humanity. Religion is dangerous because it divides us.

Cal is a typical bigot in the vein of that Senatorial provincial cuss that keeled over a few days ago, what's his name, Strom Thurmond or something?
Forgot him already.
The facts B that Muslims have different social standards. As long as people voluntarily follow them who cares what they do? Cal, the uptight puckering rimjob is all in a tizzy over Muslim social affairs, but he's let's the mortgage industry and oil industry and media moguls do as they please?
Go F yourself Cal, you and your knuckle draggin minions.
America is goin to crap because of the lack of responsible governance (transparency and accountability manifested in regulation & oversight) from GOP political powers that ran this country for 8 years.
Friggin home values are dropping by 100s of 1000s, 1000s of layoffs, outsourced millions of jobs, and Cal is cryin' about Muslim marriages?
Cal you deserve to lie in that backwoods mudpit you slithered out of.
Otis, git off your knees and look around you- America is being shredded by GOP policies which have brought America low. And I aint no democrat liberal neither. Muslims and their social affairs aint the problem, buddy boy.
You are unbelievably stupid. The point is that any judge who thinks that women trapped in the fundamentalist Sharia law Muslim culture anywhere in the world have an option to "agree" to enter into a contract of marriage under Sharia law or British law is also ignorant and sexist. Women in countries where Sharia law is enforced are trying to kill themselves by immolation or any means they can find rather than live in those circumstances. Men do not understand or don't care about the conditions women endure even in the US under the excuse men give "it's my culture" - And the honor killings young Muslim women must fear from their own fathers or brothers would cause riots if the males in the family were held to the same standard.

Sharia law is effective through punishment and shame. This only works where there is a sense of belonging to a community. This, IMO, is one area UK society is falling down. As religion recedes, this problem may increase to the degree that the minister or priest will not be a figure in it. Arguably, we are already at that stage.

Normally I'd let a dead thread lie, but in this case I'll reciprocate posthumously.
A$$cio, you sound like a brainless crusader: how you gonna establish that 100s of millions of women in the Muslim world are in their marriages against their will?
You don't. You made that up based on yer FAITH.....
thats friggin bigotry for ya. It aint based on reality, but just holdin' on to the faith that yer notions about people are true.
Here are some HARD FACTS about America:
"1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually assaulted by age 18 (Finkelhor, et al., 1990)
On average, from 1992-2000, only 31% of all rapes and sexual victimizations were reported to the police(Hart, Timothy and Rennison, 2000)
Probability that an arrest will be made when a rape is reported: 1:2.(50.8%)(National Center for Policy Analysis, 1999)
The overall probability that a rapist will be sent to prison for his crime: 16.3%. The average sentence: 128 days.(National Center for Policy Analysis, 1999)
7 in 10 rape and sexual assault victims know their attacker prior to the assault.(Rennison, 2000)
Chances that a woman will develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after being raped are between 50% and 95%.(Population Information Program, 1999)
One study estimated that, in one 12 month period, 302,091 adult American women and 92,748 adult American men experience a completed or attempted rape. Because some persons suffer multiple rapes, it is estimated that 876,064 rapes of adult American women and 111,298 rapes of adult American men occur annually.(Tjaden and Thoennes, 1998)
Of female Americans who are raped, 54% experience their first rape before age 18.(Ibid)
The cost of crime to victims is an estimated $450 billion per year. Rape is the most costly to its victims, totaling $127 billion annually.(Miller, et al., 1996)
Women with a childhood history of sexual abuse are 4.7 times more likely to be subsequently raped (Merrill et al. 1997)
Of surveyed college women, about 90% of rape and sexual assault victims knew their attacker prior to the assault (Fisher, 2000)
In another survey of college women, 13.3% indicated that they have been forced to have sex in a dating situation (Johnson and Sigler, 2000)
In Pennsylvania:
During fiscal year 2002-03, sexual assault centers in PA served 37,811 persons
10, 273 child victims
13,481 adult victims
14,057 parents, partners, etc.
In 2002, police received 3,453 reports of forcible rape.
Police arrested 1,432 people in 2002 for forcible rape.(Pennsylvania State Police, 2002)
Persons under 18 years of age account for 67% of all sexual assault victimizations reported to law enforcement agencies. Children under 12 years old account for 34% of those cases and children under six years account for 14% of those cases (Snyder, 2000).

1.8 million of the 22.3 million adolescents in the United States have been sexually assaulted (Kilpatrick and Saunders).
Of surveyed men who were incarcerated for rape, 40% reported their victims were children, and 80% reported their victims were under 18 years old.(Greenfeld, 1997).
Seven out of 10 offenders with child victims reported that were imprisoned for a rape or sexual assault (Greenfeld, 1996).
Child-victims of rape know their offended prior to the incident 90% of the time (Greenfeld, 1996).
Juveniles are responsible for victimizing 40% of the child sexual assault victims under six years of age (Snyder, 2000).
Women with a childhood history of sexual abuse are 4.7 times more likely to be subsequently raped (Merrill, et al, 1997).
Female adolescent abuse survivors are more likely to develop eating disorders - 18% binge and purge, while only 6% of non-abused adolescent girls do so - and are more likely to use illegal drugs - 30% compared to 13% of teenage girls who were never sexually abused (The Commonwealth Fund, 1997).
Girls who were raped are about three times more likely to suffer from psychiatric disorders and over four times more likely to suffer from drug and alcohol abuse in adulthood (Kendler, et al., 2000).
Pennsylvania Statistics
1,471 juvenile (under the age of 18) females and 174 juvenile males reported forcible rape victimizations in 2002. Of these victims, 251 females and 72 males were ten years old or younger.
Including all types of sex offenses and forcible rapes reported in Pennsylvania during 2002, there were:
9,700 female victims (1, 539 were ten years old or younger)
1,895 male victims (744 were ten years old or younger)(Pennsylvania State Police, 2002)
Offender relationships to their child victims in substantiated reports of sexual abuse (Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare):
27.3% parent (father/mother)
16% babysitter
13.4% household member
10.9% sibling
Teens 16 to 19 years of age were three and a half times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault (Rennison, 2000).
69% of teen sexual assaults reported to law enforcement occurred in the residence of the victim, the offender, or another individual (Snyder, 2000).
In one year over 4,000 incidents of rape or other types of sexual assault occurred in public schools across the country (U.S. Department of Education, 1997).
Nearly 24% of sexually active girls younger than 13 years old reported that their first intercourse was non-consensual (Abma, et al., 1998).
A study of 15-17 year old teenage mothers found that in 40% of the cases, the father of babies born to 15 year olds were 5 or more years older (Lindberg, 1997).
Female students who have been physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner in the 9th through 12th grades are at increased risk for substance us, unhealthy weight control, risky sexual behavior, pregnancy and suicide (Silverman, et al., 2001).
23% of all sexual offenders are under the age of 18 (Snyder, 2000).

Right. Abuse of women and children is only bad when it's criminal in the USA; not when it's a way of life elsewhere.

Seriously. I don't doubt that the majority of Moslem men, like men everywhere, love their mothers, wives and daughters and treat them right. The trouble is there is NO protection for the womenfolk of the small abusive percentage.

Yes, as you see from these statistics, people in the US and the UK prosecute and imprison men who commit crimes against women.

In Muslim countries, women who are raped are put in prison and often murdered. In Muslim countries women who are raped or assaulted by men do not report their crimes for fear of being murdered. In Muslim countries (and increasingly in Western coutries), thousands of women are murdered annually, by Muslim men, for dressing "inappropriately," for having a boyfriend, or for refusing to accept an arranged marriage.

In the West, men are imprisoned for abusing or murdering women, in Muslim countries, men are praised for abusing or murdering women.

That is a rather telling distinction.
