England is better off without a constitution.
Separation of church and state is an established principle here as in the USA. It is a matter of degree. The Anglican (English) Church does not interfere significantly in the running of the state. If it did, it would be stopped.
Englands subjects are citizens. It is not 'subjection' in a meaningful sense and does not exclude appropriate citizenship rights. The Queen cannot lock me up.

I choose to respect and understand the traditions of others. I would not want to appear to attack them for no essential purpose.(Argument for argument's sake).

What is also separated are the powers of the monarch (almost nil) and those of Parliament (virtually total). It is a form of democracy that can and should be improved upon IMO, but not one to be despised.

One might not agree, but arguably having a monarch saves time and money. It means England can make state visits that do not impede the PMs plans; or involve him/her leaving the country essentially only to stand on a podium for two hours and make a speech. The Palaces etc are maintained at the Queen's expense where she has the money. A republic would not demolish such historic buildings and institutions. They help tourism and business too.

There is a natural tendency to assume that a constitution helps, but does one written two hundred years ago really help? Or one written more recently? I see arguments that it does and arguments that it does not.
