Russia according to President Medvedev is ready for a 'new Cold War'. If politicians including our own want a new Cold War they will get one. But the fault will lie as much with us as Russia.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/colu... What is it with these Labour politicians? The last thing this situation needs is that 'wierdo' Miliband strutting around making matters worse.. |

I expect there is some Russian proverb about poking bears with sticks and the dangers thereof. It would apply to creeps like Milliband who seem to have no idea of what they are dealing with. IF you are going to talk tough, you must have the power to back it up, and we haven't.

We have suicide bombers will that help. |

Two birds with one stone? |

Exactly - What we need is some elder statesman with a vast amount of experience of the Russians to deal with this (perhaps there is in the background.. who knows?) What we don't need to lead this is some jumped-up schoolboy with delusions of grandeur and just like Blair who wishes to thrust himself upon the world stage. Oh well - Maybe it wont be long before we are saying "Here come the Russians" but this time it will be for real.. |

The Iraq saga is getting boring now, we spies are tired of dressing up in burkas and getting slapped about by oily muslims.
No, we demand a return to the good old days where we could prance around Moscow in our designer suits and Daniel Craig knickers and then sit on the Russian Generals lap, all in the knowledge we are bettering our crumbling country. |

1 Is there anyone in the Government REMOTELY considered capable of doing the most basic tasks of running their department? |

We agree for a change, he is just trying to brown nose his way to the top in my opinion, but the worst ones in the cabinet are the sisterly trio of Harman, Kelly and Blears, it shows how bad they are when the totally ineffective tories will walk it next election because Labour have blown it big time. |

I think I identify two problems:
1. Trust. There is no more reason to trust Medvedev-Putin as there is this author. Russians imagine they are electing ‘strong men’, but arguably Russia is ruled by a bunch of criminal gangs. I remember the Litvenenko affair. Whether he was killed on Putin’s orders or not, consider the Russian reaction to it. Remember what happens to people in the media who show too much dissent. The issues of the Georgian conflict are still unclear. However, it does seem certain that if the West had over-reacted and deepened the crisis the way Russia has, our left wing would be howling for our politician’s blood. I merely observe that with interest. http://nuclearweaponarchive.org/News/Litvinen... http://www.rferl.org/content/article/1076780.... Still, one can trust in Russian politicians if one wishes to. In this country, one might be safer if one does. is a conventional view, but I think that agreeing with this author is jumping to a great many conclusions. 2. Spheres of influence. I think that Mr Bush is likely to make the same mistake that Putin makes in thinking in terms of nationalism and spheres of influence. Speaking for myself, I am not a sphere of influence. We are people, not pawns in their game of geo-politics. It is our lives and security they are playing with. My experience of David Miliband is that he is one of the brighter Labour politicians and makes more sense than most politicians in any UK party. Whatever one thinks of him or Labour policies we would do well to listen to what our politicians are saying. I think that many British people won’t listen and will likely reject such leadership as that of Mr Miliband. I also think that this relentlessly negative attitude, visible in the posts above, may contribute to bringing the UK to an end, possibly in the next ten or fifteen years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Miliband |

1 I have to disagree with you whole heartedly. I saw this clown performing before the select committee debating the Lisbon Treaty and I have to say his performance was appalling. His overall demeanour was childish. To say that he is a highly intelligent individual ( I believe he was given the name 'Brains') frightens me. Is this the best that Britain can provide? GOD HELP US because Zanulabour sure as hell don't have the answers. |
|
God help us if you have all the answers. |
|
I do have all the answers. So where exactly is your God? Printed numbers on a £1 lotto perhaps. |
|
No arsemunch. Actually my god is Banjo the clown. |
