I can't believe what i am reading! Dogs are inquisitive intelligent and interesting animals. In their natural surroundings they form friendships, and social hierarchies, recognise one another and their owners, love and care for their young and enjoy life to the full.
Humane regulations continue to be flouted, and it will continue to do so until the likes of you, Dave Smith and all the other ignorant idiotic, uneducated persons in this sad and sorrowful world are educated.

In reply to the previous contributor,no, dogs are not more important than humans but are usually a product of their environment and as such ,if trained correctly can provide a wealth of love and loyalty to their owners.They depend on {humans} to love ,nurture,and give them a reasonable quality of life.Is that too much to ask?.Murderers, as in human beings,deserve all they get.They are thinking,reasoning individuals who choose ,for whatever reason to excercise their power over another individual, OR DOGS AS IN MR SMITHS CASE.

You dont even know me so who are you to question my use of the English language or anything for that matter, this is not a grammar lesson it is about what Dave Smith is supposed to have done, and like one has stated in previous replies, Dave Smith was only doing what the owners of the dogs wanted for them, he didnt walk round the streets dragging dogs into his van to kill them,did he??? No he didnt, and he is been made out as a scapegoat, murderer and whatever else he is supposed to have done. As none of you know this man, not one of you is in a position to judge and as the courts of the land found him guilty of nothing you are all in the wrong again, maybe the lot of you should spend your time campaigning for something like kids being abused or something worthwhile. Or go stand outside your local vets and call them all murderers, the difference between them and Dave Smith is is nil, apart from they charge a lot more than him.

Dogs are fantastic intelligent animals. They deserve better than being raced to earn some pig money for a few years before David Smith puts a bolt through their head.

You can't justify it, and if you think it's okay to treat dogs in this way then perhaps you deserve a bolt through your head. By your own admission, it's very humane so you couldn't really complain.

Mr Stockton, i dont need to learn my grammar anymore, i have a perfectly good job thank you and ive got a spell checker for the e mails i send! And maybe you could learn how to punctuate your correct grammar with spaces and CAPITAL letters before you go around slagging off other people.
Like you said before you did 45 years at work, so if you are not a pensioner you must of started work at a very early age. And also i didnt come on here to slag off our 4 legged friends, and i never said that these dogs should of been killed, but as there are no other alternatives it is the right thing to do, iam sure if you were to put a telephone number of the local greyhound rescue centre on here maybe someone would use it, but i think that will be quite hard to find.
At the end of the day, Dave Smith was cleared of any wrong doing by a court of law, and iam sure if you were to go to his shop he will tell you what charities he gave the money to.
And to everyone else on here, if you are so concerned about this why arent you doing anything about it? Abusing people on here isnt going to make a difference to the plight of these dogs, but as most of you are only here for an ego trip, hiding behind a pc screen, this will continue until you get off your backsides and do something about it. Iam sure a protest outside the local dog track would get plenty of support, NOT. But the majority of you are only here to slag off 1 man, someone that none of you know and have only read about, hardly ever a mention of the peolpe that took the dogs there in the 1st place.
