Teenage terrorist jailed for two years

A BRITISH teenager was sentenced to two years in a young offenders institution on Friday, the youngest person in Britain to be convicted on terrorism charges. Hammad Munshi, 18, was found guilty last month of distributing instructions over the internet on how to make napalm, explosives, detonators and grenades. Munshi, the grandson of an Islamic scholar, was 16 when he was arrested in a police crackdown on an extremist cell for which he was described as the computer expert. Judge Timothy Pontius said Munshi had fallen "under the spell of fanatical extremists". He said the schoolboy's head had been filled with "pernicious and warped ideas" which led to his involvement in a plan to kill "kuffars", or non-believers. Munshi was convicted with Aabid Khan and Sultan Muhammad. Munshi's barrister had told the court he had shown "curiosity" rather than any kind of malicious intent.
