I see no connection, as there is No Connection! Two Brits caught banging in an Arab country. We have had relations with the UAE long before W got into office, and will long after he leaves. As for W being stupid, he managed to get himself elected, twice, to the most powerful position in the world. What have YOU done?

Your right, its impossible. I just made a similar trip. I left Houston on a Saturday night, arrived in Dubai their Sunday night (noon our time). This guy would have had to immidiately board another plane and head back here to make it by monday morning, even then, most flights from that side of the pond don't arrive in the states until well after noon. Somethin tells me this guy chickened out and never even got on a plane.

When you are in another country you are expected to abide by the laws of that country, even the ones that insult your western sensibilities. What were they thinking?

Dubai makes NYC look like a dollar a day hostel. It is the playground of those who are richer than rich.

In modern times, sometimes we forget that governments exist.

In modern times, the world, and our lives, revolve mostly around capital entities, and fluctuations therein: corporations, markets. This is different from times past, wherein the world mostly revolved around states and nations, and fluctuations therein.

We can go party in Dubai if we have enough money to pay the fare and board.

Once in a while something like this happens, and we get reminded of the existence of governing entities.

Guess I gotta spell it out for ya Rocky. If the UAE wants to give a couple of kids two years in the slammer for slammin one on the beach, that sounds a bit draconian to me, but I can't help thinking that Bush would like nothing more than to be able to emulate that.
