I thought our extended stay was supposed to last only up until the boys in Iraq could take care of themselves. If aL-Maliki feels that the terrorists have been defeated, let's bring home our troops. The shorter the time table the better. Senator Obama's "timetable" to bring home our troops sounds reasonable to me.

Here's the problem with al Maliki's plan which is coincidentally similar to Obama's,(world's getting geared up for Presient Obama), it calls for the removal of "combat troops" not all troops.

And for those that have missed it "all troops are combat troops" in this little shinding.

There is no winning a civil war - especially when you are standing in the middle getting shot at by both sides. Yes all troops are combat troops. Realize there should be a contingent for the embassy when there is one. The rest should come home if they are national guard, or be redeployed to Afghanistan, if they still have available time in their rotation. Hope the tripe you didn't support wasn't veterans care, etc.?

Not so easily done. It been estimated that it will take three years to withdraw all US forces from Iraq due to all the equipment that has to be dis-assembled and moved. Certianly we should start drawing down resources form the areas that take the most time to remove troops from.

In addition, US troops leaving Iraq means that Iranian regime will be free to threaten the entire Middle East with nukes and dirty bombs in the hands of the Iranian ruled Islamic terrorists all over the Middle East that will lead to destabilizing of the entire Middle East.
Our brave US troops under the great General Petraeus are victorious in their war in Iraq where they defeated the dangerous Saddam and his WMDs, defeated the Islamic terrorists of Al Qaida and the Islamic terrorists under Ahmadinajad, rebuilt Iraq oil rigs and instituted the government of Maliki.
Nevertheless, there was a huge sacrifice of US troops lives since April 2003 to achieve the victory over the Islamic terrorists and US need not leave Iraq empty handed for the interests of radical Islamic regimes of Saudi Arabia and that are cooperating to destroy US economy with high oil prices and monopoly on oil production in the Middle East.
Obviously, US need to respect Iraq sovereignty on one hand but US cannot trash all its achievements in Iraq by rapid withdrawal of US troops that will create vacuum in Iraq that will be filled by the Iranian regime Islamic terrorists.
