Very good. But at least half of population will vote for januk andd his "regions", only because they are associated with Russia for eastern ukrainians.
Before neat Orange revolution we have understand, is it possible to mix 2 nations inside one country or not.
If people votes only in accorfance to their national origin, no scene for ideas, conceptions , national interests etc.
The people there in Ukraine should start working on their own , in small business, volunteering, forming political discussion groups, helping seniors, adopting homeles children , cleaning up the countryside, paving roads, installing rural sanitation etc etc.. Fighting Russia is old hat and boring already. There is no point in waiting for the government to do something for you. Like why isn't all of western Ukraine demonstrating to support Yulia Tymoshenko , instead of just complainin ???? My government does nothing for me in Canada really, if I don't get out of bed everyday and do something creative, to make money. The soviet system gave people bad attitudes.Ukrainians and Russians have a huge " chip on their shoulder" all the time, it seems. Like how about a little energetic creative personal projects ??? Ukraine has 10,000 abandoned children in Orphanages . So why can't some families take them in, for example ???? Too Many Lethargic and non involved people in Ukraine.

but your gov doesnot prevent you to start and develop your business; bank credites your business; policy doesnot arrest your without reason and court' decision doesnot depends on how much you paid.
These are only part of radical differencies between Canada and Ukraine.
What really Timoszenko did for western Ukraine? Nothing. She played own game so why we have demonstrate on her behalf??

You should demonstrate because Tymoshenko stands for the things you say you want, like democratic processes , fair courts, an end to bribery. This ukrainian attitude of " what has someone done for me ? "is a bad attitude. You say you want a democratic state with a market economy based on rules ,but you say why should I do anything, no one does anything for me ?. That is the typical" bad ukrainian attitude "that Allchurch speaks of. No one in Ukraine wants to take the first step to democracy and capitalism, and millions are just like you so nothing gets done in Ukraine. Stagnation and lack of interest and mass hopelessness and despondency in Ukraine.... I been there and seen it all over.

Boris, I think, the real difference between Julia and Januk is not radical - both use the old system on own behalf. Julia did not any attempts to change laws, stop crimes and politicians from Rada.
She spoke So much nice words, but real result is zero.

Well, I hope Yulia gets a chance to run in the October, 2012 elections and she is out of jail soon. It is a problem where there are no options of a jury trial in Ukraine for criminal offences. Politicians can then manipulate trials, as happened in this case. That is very obvious.

The only reason Latin America is plagued by such tin pot dictators to begin with is that Washington has always sought to suppress democratic nationalism in the region and backed the caudillos who let the US corporations have their way. From Pinochet to the Somoza family to...

We created banana republicism.

Of course, no. One of the reasons to jail her was to avoid her participance in the elections. Now, as criminal, she has not right to be elected. But criminal Januk has this right )) It was perfect game against Julia.
Only revolution might free Julia.

Well, no need for a revolution really. A European Court of Human Rights Ruling that Yulia Tmoshenko should be freed , will do the trick. If Ukraine does not comply with the ruling..... they will get no money from the IMF, World Bank or European trade deals. The situation in Russia is also uncertain. Putin is still trying to increase russian control of Ukraine, but the election in Russia may not work out as he planned for him. Why did Yushchenko testify against Tymoshenko at her trial ? Was he forced to testify by threats of exposure of his wrongdoing ? Yushchenko became a millionaire also on Orange Revolution patents and deals ,and now lives quietly with Kuchma, Kravchuk,as his neighbours in the up - scale Kiev Hills, while Yulia Tymoshenko rots in prison. Not a nice guy that Yushchenko! He Seems a little sleezy.

Because if Yanukovich can do it to her, then he can do it to anyone, including you. She is not a saint, she is not pure, and Yulia is not without her faults. But what she stands for is far greater that anything else. She stands for the people, people like you first, before anything else.

BTW much of Canada was settled by Ukrainians from Western Ukraine. Over a millian strong and most doing well. I have been involved with communities in Toronto and Saskatoon and the feelings for the homeland are still strong. Canada will always be an ally of the Ukrainian people and not of the pigs like those in power.

I dont have hope on decisions of European Court, Julia is a strong enemy for Januk, so he will leave herself in a jail.
More important, as for me, for example, boykot of Euro2012 in Ukraine, like Moscow after invasion into Afghanistan. But Europe is not ready to this action.

Sounds very bad there. Many people from Ukraine and Russia are here and doing fine. Maybe it is best for you to leave Ukraine.
