just shows that the Russian government has no intentions of honouring any agreements they make unless it suits them to do so at the time...but is highly critical if anyone else were to even concider not following agreements.

They are just two faced and cant be trusted!!

The Poles have the right idea dont trust them to even wish you "Goodmorning"

It is illegal to have duo citizenship in Ukraine. Those that have gotten a Russian passport are breaking the law. Maybe they are proclaiming they are no longer Ukrainian citizens so they'll need to live by the immigration laws. Does a long stay require visa for Russian citizens?

Perhaps the Government of Ukraine must compel by law that any citizen must declare their illegal Russian passports or be declared an alien in Ukraine loosing all rights to citizenship.

Violations of the law should be punished.

Damn right
I want a Ukrainian passport but I observe the Ukrainian law about dual citizenship, and I was not even born there.
so why should someone have dual nationality when they know its against the law in the contry they are living in?...why would you want a russian passport in the first place? unless you are russian, in which case as you rightly state they should only be able to stay in the country under visa rules.
foreign nationals of non Ukrainian decent 90 days and then you need a visa.
being of Ukrainian decent can get you a 5 year visa.
so anyone who wants a russian passport had better give back their Ukrainian passport and start looking at the visa regs

Russia Allegedly Giving Passports To Crimeans

Rumors regarding Russia's alleged handing out of passports to ethnic Russians who make up the majority of the population in the strategic Crimean peninsula have some Ukrainian parliament members deeply concerned.
The Crimea, located along the Black Sea, has strategic significance to the Russians and Ukrainians alike, because it hosts the Russian and Ukrainian Black Sea fleets in the port of Sevastapol.
Ukrainian parliament member Mykola Stretovych, a member of the ruling Orange Coalition, said in a London Telegraph report the Russians had handed out 400,000 passports in the strategic port city. Anatoly Gritsenko, chairman of the Ukrainian parliament's national-security committee, launched a probe into Mr. Stretovych's assertions, saying they would pose " a threat to national security" if true.

Find out who has them and send them to Russia. Not a problem. No visa no Ukraine. Tell Russia that you are sending their citizens back to them because they do not have visas or authorization to be in Ukraine. Simple solution.

400,000? Do neofascist Russian chauvinists hand out passports like toilet paper?

Not necessarally. In Ukraine, you must pay a few kopeks to use the facilities in which a small, set amount of toilet paper is provided to you. Russians give them out free. So in essence, a Russian passport is worth less than a roll of soft cardboard used to wipe yourself.

Nice one!! so thoughtful :)

I remember the first time I visited Ukraine in the early ninties and yes I had to pay for the sheets of toilet paper off the roll.. 1 cabovontitz.
interestingly it took two peoople to hand out this paper, I wonder how much the income of the toilet paper was used to pay their wage??
