'Lazy Ugandans jealous of Indians'

Someone talked about marriages etc above..... In the right atmosphere where people feel welcome and safe, intermarriages do take place...check out in UK. Marriage is a personal choice and where the 2 people fall in love firstly. White people occupied and ruled many countries but managed well without learning that country's language or without following that country's religion properly and without inter marriages. Where Indians placed their flag in another country? They stayed and died in that country where they went. Uaganda got independence in 1962 (Asians kicked out in 1972) and wanted so much change so quickly???!!!

Someone mentioned about intermarriages above. Marriage is a personal choice where 2 people fall in love. When the atmosphere is right and people feel safe, they do fall in love and marry. Britain is one good example of it. People ruled overseas countries and managed well without following that countrie's language and religion well. Overseas countries are still in good relationship with those ruling countries. India and Britain get on well. Britain and Uganda get on well. Indians went to other countries and have not placed their flag there...they have died there and still die there wherever they live. Uganda got independence in 1962 and asians were kicked out in 3 clothes in 1972.....they expected a miracle in 10 years???!!!

My point is Indians as a group need to address at least some of the issues mentioned

Uganda is a very rich country in minerals coffee and timber and Indian expatriates have a opportunity to work with the African people in maximising the overall wealth

In the past they have been seen as self interested and lackeys of the white colonial powers

This is the challenge and knowing african local politics will not be easy for any expatriate

Tell me if any other outside nationality in such big number is there in Uganda...only Indians are there...and they are willing to do various jobs. Integration takes more than 10 years. Zebras and Giraffes are different but they live together. Lions and tigers are different but they live together. But a lion and a zebra cant live together. And we are not lions and zebras. Have trust and patience and see for yourself. I know that even the local Ugandans were scared to grow crops during Amin's time. By the time the crops grew, the army would move in and cause disturbances. Likewise not only Asians but all people were troubled by the politicians. All this needs to be put right. The attitude seems right now. Better than at the time of Idi Amin.

Like I said - the risks are high - but the profits are good

Ugandans are ok if you
a) understand their culture and language
b) integrate to some extent
c) invest a little back int the country

The ugandan friend was married to a very beautiful Indian muslim girl he met in Malaysia

The indians were a bit annoyed at her decision (and I suspect the men were a bit jealous) but at the ned of the day marriage is a joint decision between two consenting adults

Apparently Ugandan men have posters of Indian movie stars and often dream of meeting an Ashwarya Rai or Charisma Kapoor

My Indian friends and clients are the best human beings I have meant in LA a call from them means a lot. Idi Amin was a crazy man kick out Indians and killed many Ugandans.

Calling Ugandans lazy is uncalled for. The presindent M7 sucks up to Indians even those who can not make it anywhere! The Ugandans I know are smart, very hard working and very competetive.

So Man the matters of the heart know no boundries Indians women given a chance will marry from any race.

dont turn this into an Indian Vs African debate

You dont need to point out there are lots of Indian doctors - if other communities made their children study day and night and not have well rounded upbringing then they too will produce lots of doctors, lawyers and engineers as Indians are often proud to point out

The problems in Africa are complex but dont for a second think that Indians are some how superior to Africans based on the current ratio of doctors - thats a mistake that whote people make as well when they say look at all the african countries - they simply cant develop

I have met enough africans to know that they have the same potential as anybody and the world has an obligation to help Africa and africans with current POLITICAL problems rather than simply wash their habds and gloat about their own achievements

Finally you obviously dont know your own community very well outside of India. Indian women living outside are running away from the Indian community because of all the social pressures put on them, in particular the prospect of marrying some backward Indian man they have never met who plans to lock them up and look after the kids once they are married

you can dream all you like,you should see if you can find your friend and see how she is getting along with her marrage, i bit it has ended,and she is back with parentes.every girl i know has never express that desire.may be i am in lala land,and i am sure ASHWARYA and CHARISMA KAPOOR,ARE OUT there right how looking for black boy friends. We cannot excuse the terrible things done by Ugandans against Indians

Yo ucan see examples of African states where people once subject to cruelty are able to forgive and work constructvely toward a brighter future -(South Africa and Rwanda)

Do you plan to pass your hatred of Africans to your children - that would be a shame as the country still has a lot to offer

I would also advise not trying to project your prejudice on the likely outcome of lives of other people

My Ugandan friend is still happily married as are other Indian women married to africans

Like I said - two consenting adults making a decision to marry should not be subject to sneering and resentment

I suggest you watch the movie "Mississippi Marsala" with Denzel Washington - its a bit of an eye opener who would have thought Indians are also racist
