Uganda is a high risk but potentially lucrative country to do business
Indians planning to set up businesses there may be playing Russian roulette given their treatment at the hands of Idi Amin but thats the chance you take when your an entreprenuer |
A common street man leaves India as he finds it difficult to make ends meet in the corrupt society in India. Even the doctors and engineers after using Indian funds leave the country as they dont see much future in India even though India needs them. At times only the rich and people with good influence are able to get good jobs in India. What you see in many films is a reality in India and that is why the kissing scenes are sensored and the scenes showing corruption in business and police station are allowed to be placed on screen for the world people to see. But still the bad methods follow as the government, may be thinks that the films will put everything right. Politicians need to wake up. Even the dancing ladies from India are moving out in the name of entertainment..... as we see in Dubai and London and many rich cities, where suddenly so many have moved in.

Why they refused 5 years' multiple visit visa to India saying one has to prove he / she is of Indian origin and yet call him / her and NRI.....Non Resident Indian???!!! So bit of Indian when they want to and not when they dont want to!!! At least in UK I am a British Asian with all British rights and many times considered a British also as I have a British Passport. In the eyes of the law, I am British.....that is what matters. So have to be happy with that. Life not too long to argue about all this. Yes a human being first.....agreed.

I CANNOT UNDER STAND WAY YOU WERE REFUSED A 5 YEAR VISA. MOST NRI I KNOW GO BACK AND FORTH WITH ON PROBLEM. BUT NOT TO WORRY YOU HAVE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS .YOU ARE IN THE BEST PLACES OF THE WORLDS.ALWAYS BE PROUD OF WHAT CITIZENSHIP YOU HAVE. WE REAL CANNOT CONSIDER OUR SELFS INDAINS BECAUSE OUR THINKING IS DIFFERENT AND MAIN LAND INDIANS ARE SOME TIMES NOT CONFERITABLE WITH THAT.I LIKE MY UNICENESS SO I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT. I HAVE BEEN TO INDIA MANY TIMES. AND SEE THAT IN INDIA I AM RESPECTED AND TREATED WILL.WE INDIANS WILL ALL WAYS BE INDIANS NO MATER WHERE WE LIVE THAT IS OUR CULTURE .I WOULD NOT WANT TO BE ANY THING ELSE THAN INDIAN/ AT LIST I AM NOT REFUSED ANY VISAS I HAVE APPLIED FOR 5 YEAR VISA AND GRANTED 2 TIMES. YOU NEED TO SEE WHO IS PROCESSING THIS VISA.TAKE IT UP WITH AMBASY. GOOD LUCK

Thanx sol-man. Once they gave me 5 year visa and after that they stopped. 5 year multiple visa is cheaper and so wanted same again as I have also been there many times. I like it there but have had some bad experiences also there. Basically money speaks more there.

It is nice to see that The Uganda government is following up the matter properly. It was bit different in the times of Idi Amin.

1 The problem in Uganda and not only Uganda but infact the whole of Africa goes beyond just what the media tells u or what ur small brain thinks. Live in Africa as an African and see the Indians and Chinese how they treat the Africans and then empathize with the Africans, and come back and comment on this blog, honestly speaking. Those slavery days are gone and Africans are humans. No matter whether u are starving or what but u can never let a foreigner come and treat u like a slave in ur country. Coomenting about this statement,“Also, Ugandans feel that the affluent Indians didn't respect them and treated them like slaves which is not true.” Who says it's not true? What evidnce have they got? Were they living in Uganda during the Amin days? Are they living in Africa now today?! |
People (Asians) holding Uganda passport also were called to the capital Kampala and lined up and one by one the passports were taken and thrown in the box on the floor. This left the individuals stateless.....and also were asked to leave the country in those 30 days. The administration seems more stable now. Those days were different.....when the blacks and brown all suffered in the hands of the provocative politicians.

2 I worked with a Ugandan overseas 15 years ago. We discussed Uganda over coffee after work almost every second day There a few points that have not been raised here that I learnt from this gentleman that are worth posing 1. Ugandan Africans are made up of a variety of ethnic groups - some of whom are despised more than Indians. 2. African men are actually attracted to Indian girls but a afraid to approach them as they are often threatend by brothers or members of the Indian community (ironic given how small Indian community is) this adds to the belief Indians dont want to assimilate 3. Indians will always hire another indian in preference to hiring a black african and given unemployment was always high in Uganda this smacked of prejudice 4. Indians never invested their profits in the country but rather setup offshore accounts or in trust accounts in the UK, worst still Indians rarely donated time or money for african charities 5. Indians were never involved in local sports (i.e. soccor)and particpation was negligible 6. Finally Indians openly looked down on africans. Whats funny is some of the african people were actually better looking and more refined in their qualities yet were never good enough to mix with. My friend never worked out was why Mahatma Gandhi started a union for Indian workers in south africa but never made legal representation for african workers in the smae boat. Surely he was a humanitarian Indians may have to prove they have changed when they come back to Unganda |

i hear a lot of criticism about how india and china r operating in africa.
my point is - how did the white imperialists first behave when they encountered africans? far far worse ... we r being humane to africans, given how gorahs treated them. they shud appreciate that. we r finally brinign economic oppurtunity to their desolate and abandoned countries. appreciate that. |
Not only to Uganda but to the whole of Africa. If not then us Africans are better off the way we are now than suffering more from slavarists. |

Liberty Guy...U said "us Africans" ??? But you are in Ireland.....Liberty
