My opinion is Battle of Manzikert, 1071(Turkish conquest of Anatolia)

Our glorious Turkmen ancestors opened Anatolia's doors for us. This is a holly story from Turkistan(Central Asia) to Anatolia, Balkans and Middle-East..

I think it is battle of Dumlupinar. In this battle, Turkish army was in its worst position ever in the whole history.

Turkish–Armenian War:

Date: September 24 to December 2, 1920

Location: South Caucasus and the Democratic Republic of Armenia

Strength:

Turks: 20,000 combatants..Armenians: Not more than 50,000

Result: Turkish victory; Treaty of Alexandropol

Territorial changes: Armenia forced to cede more than half its pre-war territory and to give up all the territories granted to it at the Treaty of Sèvres

Good victory...

Mohac is the most succesfull war in Turkish history.

Only 700 Soldier lost their life.
Magyars lost 70.000 soldier and war only was 40 minutes.

The Battle of Manzikert, or Malazgirt, was fought between the Byzantine Empire and Seljuq forces led by Alp Arslan on August 26, 1071 near Manzikert (modern Malazgirt in Muş Province, Turkey). It resulted in one of the most decisive defeats of the Byzantine Empire and the capture of the Byzantine Emperor Romanos IV Diogenes.[5] The Battle of Manzikert played an important role in breaking the Byzantine resistance and preparing the way for Turkish settlement in Anatolia

When the Emperor Romanos IV was conducted into the presence of Alp Arslan, he refused to believe that the bloodied and tattered man covered in dirt was the mighty Emperor of the Romans.[7] After discovering the identity of the Emperor, a famous conversation is reported to have taken place:

Alp Arslan: "What would you do if I were brought before you as a prisoner?"
Romanos: "Perhaps I'd kill you, or exhibit you in the streets of Constantinople."
Alp Arslan: "My punishment is far heavier. I forgive you, and set you free."

it depends on what you mean by "victory"
if your concept of "victory" depends on killing humans and invading new lands, then i would say the conquest of istanbul had a significant importance in our history.
but again, i wouldnt use the word "victory" because you should use that word for inventing new medicine or a cure, or coming up with a world wide famous music type or something.

I would have to say the Korean war, it was the only war or battle where I can see Turks were unselfishly motivated to participate in, and this obvious by the fact half of Korea is not occupied by Turks today.

Most of the others I can recall were either incredible failures, deplorable killing sprees, or motivated from greed and lust for land..

Alana,
Nazim Hikmet, the greatest Turkish poet for me, has a beutiful poem about the Korean War that he wrote in 1959. Frankly, he does not think the same way about Korean war. I'd like the post the poem very much but unfortunately I could not find the English translation. Maybe, Dander would like to help though.

Anyways, as he says in another poem
To live! Like a tree alone and free, Like a forest in brotherhood”

Dear Firatb,

Here is a link that has Nazim's poems tranlated in english.
http://www.poemhunter.com/nazim-hikmet/

He has also been translated into greek, and manos loizos a popular greek composer put his poems to music in a disk called "Grammata stin agapimeni mou" (Letters to my beloved).

I wonder Firatb, do you like Omer Livaneli?

It's gonna sound cliché but I grew up listening to his songs. Livaneli has always been important to me.

Thank you. I've already checked that website but I don't think I can find this particular poem in English.

NEITHER of the ones mentionned hereabove.
The nicest battle of the whole Turkish history, to me of course, was the one we fought in Bulgaria...

VARNA 1444.

That was the last aim of Crusaders to prevent Turks from settling Europe AND conquering Istanbul.
Crusaders wanted to take Istanbul and force Greeks to convert to Catholicism.

That day of November 10, 1444 was fought one of the nicest battle of the whole history.

60.000 Turks (including 1/7 janisseries) led by Murad II
VS.
+200.000 Catholic crusaders led by Hungarians and Poles (Hunyadi Yanosh, Cesarini and Wladislav) supported with small groups (Spain, Netherlands, Norway etc) from ALL Catholic World.

That was terrible, we lost +/- 20.000 soldiers but our victory over Europe was tremendous.
Cesarini and Wladislav beheaded and +100.000 killed.

We're really a master race, we Turks.

LOL. hence we're a race of quality and the purity of our blood has to be made sure.
We've shaked the World's history many times.
And people aren't ashamed to compare us with trash nations like:
Greece or Armenia.

No no.
Turks are same level as French, Brits, Russians etc... not Hungarians, or Slovaks or Greeks, or Spaniards etc...
