Boru my dear friend,
I think you know more than anyone else that Australia does nothing to improve learning for ethnic groups even if it is a multicultural society- least of all our Pacific countries. So what you see is probably a lot of Samoans, Fijians alongside those Tongans too. Its no real brainer to figure out that a system like Australia's is NO different from any other system driven by hegemonic values- so please don't start ousting Tongans like they're the only ones destined to underachieve. People make their own destinies and if there's no REAL help then it's gunna be the same old story: P.I's UNDERACHIEVE, have high rates in unemployment, over represented in crime and deviance..blah, blah, blah...kind of sick of hearing the same old discourses....If we start saying it ourselves then apparently we're NO different from the Palagi who created them....:(
But on a happier note- its good to hear from you..:) How's the politics... I thought you were gunna hit me up to write a book together?..
Christina, thanks for your comments. I find them refreshing, credible, and objective. Its always refreshing to have an intellectual discussion without reverting to emotional dragnets.
Moreover, my impression of Mahina is the same -- too much gobbledygook. That is, too much desire to impress with words but lacking substance.

Once I introduced him here in the US to present a paper in a scholarly setting and I was mightily unimpressed -- his logic, analysis, conclusions, along with his pompous attitude towards other presenters were woefully oxymoronic of the essence of scholarly.

Would you agree if I am to say that most Tongans with highly accredited education still possess the intelligence of 6 years old children.?.

How can anyone analyzes anything if they can not yet distinguished their own emotional greed and egotistical habits from understanding and correct interpretations of facts and logical thinking. Intelligence to me is self learned and not found in books, and I've found our own heritage to be abundance and rich of it.

these corrupt parasites had their so-called royal engagement party, at the Observatory hotel in Sydney.
This hotel is the only five or six star hotel in Sydney, in other words it's most exclusive and expensive.
The parasites entertained 700 guests at $450 each, that means it cost the taxpayer of our country $315,000 Australian.
Excluding the costs of flying in a hundred relatives from Tonga, as well as accommodation costs for those relatives.
Who pays for all of this?
It's the poor people of our country who pay.
It is the children who cannot get medically evacuated to New Zealand and must die a slow and painful death in the decrepit hospitals .
Its the public servants and the police who do not get a living wage.
Tonga owns seven satellites above our country, returning to us about $300 million US per year, when it is this money go?
Part of it ends up in these parasites entertainment.
We are so backward in our country we cannot even comprehend when we are being raped
like I said the Observatory Hotel is the most exclusive hotel in Sydney
they chose that because it was the most expensive and exclusive
this was all broadcast on tongan radio in Sydney.
these so-called representatives of a poor third world country can spend money like this?
When are we going to wake up?
When are we going to take notice of what is going on around us
?
Let us all fight for democracy and freedom, and rid ourselves of these parasites

The 700 guest and the cost. There were only 150 guests. And those travelling there paid for their own fares.

MOST Ph.Ds - Awesome to hear! But what has that done for Tonga?
Honestly ask yourself - With The amount of Doctorate degrees Tonga has, Has it LIFTED THE STATE OF LIVING IN TONGA?
Yes?...No?...How?....Where?
In my opinion - Its VERY hard to see any improvement. Every trip to my beautiful Kingdom I see a part of its beauty and culture deminish.
Pouono, for a long time I've had similar thoughts about Tonga's situation. When I visit Tonga, some trumpet the literacy stats and Ph.D stats as an ensign and a standard bearer. But to me, koe view
fakalokua pe. They are constantly asking for handouts. Without the remittances, the government and Tonga would be sinking...

That is very true KKuvalu. Someone posted up the remittance for 2010 in one of the forums last yr AMAZING amount sent from families! The government is not providing for tonga, its the people and their own businesses and family love that is keeping Tonga afloat. Tonga is providing for the current royal family. Sad.

Oku ke pehe 'e toe ma'u e Tonga haa Tu'i 'o haange koe kuohili 'o 'ofa 'ihe fonua moe kakai? I hope I live long enough to witness that.

Why are you swearing? LOL what deliberate lies? THAT I PAID FOR MY OWN FARE! Sorry but I did. AND THERE WASNT 700 people mate!

Whats more funnier than obvious crimminals and liars is those that pretend their not. Those people are the most dangerous - YOU are one of them.

Do your democracy jazz but dont try win people by feeding them with hate and misinforming them. You are worst than those that steal infront of our eyes.
