I am working on a new TV documentary that will be looking at the lure of the ‘Smiling Coast’ of Gambia to British women. The programme will explore British women’s experiences of dating, sex and relationships in the Gambia and we will follow 3 people’s different stories and experiences to get a good overview of what it’s really like.

As it says on my profile we hope this will be an enlightening, fun and realistic look at the ups and downs of searching for love in a foreign climate and will give women a voice to explain the liberated behaviour which has been traditionally seen to fall within a man’s domain.

We want to know what it is like for everyone involved in a Gambian/British relationship, from marriage to one-off nights of passion, and are looking to find several men and women who would be willing to share their stories with us. We want to speak to British women looking for romance in Gambia, and Gambian men waiting for them to arrive – as well as couples that are already together. We want to know what makes British women keep coming back to the Gambia for more?

At this stage we are looking to speak to anyone with a relevent story and hear their opinions, ideas and suggestions... if you are interested in speaking with me on the subject or know anyone that might like to contribute, please feel free to get in touch I would be delighted to hear from you.

i marride a gambian man six years ago we have been together now for nearly nine years.we love each other very much.we go out every where together infact we are always together unless we are at work.a good relationship is to understand how we were both brought up diffrently but both with respect and manners.i have been to the gambia not in the tourest area but in the local every day life how the country people live.the gambian people havent got money the living is poor and expensive but they are always smiling and grateful for what is given to them never moaning about what they have or havent got.something generations in this country should think about.i love going to the gambia but the flights are very expensive.i think infact i know that me and my husband will be together for quite a long time.

I am not british, however I'd like to comment on your topic. I am Canadian and married to a Smiling Gambian man. I recently returned from the gambia and was pleased to see that white british women mixed very well with the gambian men. It was a beautiful site to see. However, the only thing that really disturb me is the many visible older white woman with younger black men, the site of this often left me with a sick feeling. Now, when I saw a younger white girl with a gambian man that looked slightly older or about the same age this did not bother me. My only issue is are these older woman marrying these young guys in hope of living happy till death due them part or do they know once the gambian man gets into europe that they will eventually pursue younger white woman their own age!

Am gambian living in the uk,i was once in a relationship with a english girl for over 10yrs.I think the problem with us,was our different cultures, believes and most importandly how do we bring our kids up.I gambian men are use to been the head of the house hold,as the father he will alwas has the kids whatever happens to his relationships. But this is only related to him having a gambian wife and living in the gambia. So its a bit of a shock when he arrives in the uk.For the record i came to the uk in my own accord.Try to understand us before you make that commitment.like everything, there's possitive and negative guys out there.Be patient and you will find that special one.One love.

I think older white women are interested in having a young people to seduced their sexuality while older white men can't,,, Gambian men are humble and eager to get to europe for work,,, hard working men are not selfish,, is what they left behind "responsibility" makes them think any dollar or pounds worth something back home,,,, so you the older white women you got to understand that these men are from a poor country and they have to support their families when they have opportunity of earning an income in europe,,,,I do not know what you think about gambian males but i can assure you that they are nice people just like the coast of the river Gambia.Put an understanding to your self that cultural diversity play a role in any society so please do not listen to others go with your guts and stop putting African as sex slave. If you love him go for it but if you are interested only for your sex needs or desire back off because they will know and they are smart people,,,,, Gambia is the most peaceful nation,,loving and tender caring people... i have being so many places is no place like Gambia....my email is ljsam40@hotmail.com for any help or question

Dear Sir/Madam,

Bwiam Lodge

My name is salifu Badjie,Manager at Bwiam Lodge. We are looking into establishing contact with Individual and group tours(both Tourist and students).
Bwiam lodge is a community lodge erected at local level by a child
welfare organization known as Ding Ding Bantaba Child and Family support
Association affiliated to CCF The Gambia. It is in the Gambia in West
Africa and situated in Bwiam village about 200m from the high way.

Its mission is to offer the ultimate Gambia experience to both
tourist, visitors, and conference groups, which will go along with promoting
community tourism and development programs. The lodge’s ultimate aim
in future is to replace Ding Ding Bantaba Child and Family Support
Association in paying school fees for children, run seven Early Childhood
Development Centre and four community clinics in the communities in the
areas.

In order to achieve sustainable growth from which the local community
and in particular its children should benefit, Bwiam lodge seeks for
co-operation with Group Tours, Tour Operators, NGOs, Stakeholders and
philanthropists, Private companies and Government and its department in
the spirit of promoting eco-tourism and community development.

It is for this reason we are writing to you. Remember ,when you
choose Bwiam Lodge, you are helping the children and supporting people and
families in three districts in Foni, Western Region. So every time you
visit, make a booking, organize a conference or co-operate with the
lodge, you know you’re making a difference and contributing to the future
of the people in three districts in the Fonis, Western Region. Namely:
Foni Bintang Karanai, Foni Kansala, and Foni Brefet.

I would therefore love to build good relationship between our lodge
and your institution. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely

s.badjie
