I don't know who the writer is, but he sure doesn't know much about both US and Taiwanese culture.

1. "Home boy" has totally different implication in the US.

2. "Home boy" refered in the article is better translated as "nerds" or "geeks" in US slang.

3. The term is translated from a Japanese comic term "Otaku", which means exactly as "nerds" in English.

4. Young women's mentality discribed by the boys in the article is accurate and precise.

the comic books are more useful and ore informative to the young than the out out date textbooks in Taiwan. the cooking school even put some comic books in library as a reference of learning.

Being a CBC (Taiwanese), I can kind of understand the mentality from both sides of Caucasian feminism and the exotic orient - and why foreign ladies might find the local Taiwanese guy to be less in comparison than her average white male counter-part.

I see white girls living in North America as something to be taken with specific measures. We can simply break this notion down into 3 pars:

- Western hegemonic superiority
- gender "equality"
- stereotypical "western" cowboy/cowgirl attitude

Let's roll back to when I used to attend high school in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

I'm considered tall for a Taiwanese guy, standing at 6'3 and having an athletic build, I would "normally" fit into the category of desired-tabooed alpha males. My academic standings were not bad either mind you. May I also state that I was not unpopular with white girls because for a matter of fact, I had friends of all colors, including many white females.

However, there seemed to be some sort of a, degrading, indescribable gap between Asian males and white females - that runs vice-versa with white males and Asian females when it came to the intimacy department. This gap is fueled heavily by political, historical,, technological, sexual and economical contexts.

#1 Politically, Western nations dominate the world in all arenas when we reach the top of the epsilon level of elitists. These comprise primarily of white MALES and their perspectives are reflected tremendously and their wills are normally executed with little resistance.

#2 Historically, colonialism has been dominantly associated with the West - primarily UK and American colonialists. Again, war always has casualties and those who are most vulnerable include women and children - another symbol of gender / racial domination.

#3 Technological superiority is a huge, but biased, deciding factor. Such a decision is heavily influenced in a technocratic world driven by "modernism" and "civil ism vs primitivism" or even the exotic factor. The only person who is able to invent or even has half a brain are "white males" as everywhere you see in movies, historical textbooks and so forth where the majority of the credits are given to white, alpha, elitist males. This kind of a foolhardy precipice in terms of giving unfair advantage towards one race over the other is in fact counter productive. In simple words, turning a blind eye and denying oneself of the truth - a truth that all humans are created equally and all ways should be respected and not be degraded.

#4 Sexuality is a huge thing. Most of those exotic generalizations of Asian female sexuality are just fantasies from a Western male perspective - very much like Japanese Hentai. Sure, some may say, "well if it's fantasy, why is such a fantasy so prominent?" It's not prominent and, in fact, it's only 2nd or 3rd hand information. Such a "generalization" has only been around for less than 30-40 years and that isn't even an entire generation. Therefore, the notion of "Asian women falling head over heels" for white males is completely untrue. The majority of the Asian women love their Asian men and you can say pretty much the same thing for white girls. It's the mentality that we're fighting against, not color. If white girls come around looking at Asian males as human beings, instead of something alien or lower on par than what "she's normally used to", there wouldn't be such a conflict of not being able to find a date in a foreign land. Compromise is important and Caucasian women need to compromise on a greater spectrum, not just Asian women.

#5 Last, economical influence is definitely a big deciding factor. Naturally, in the western notion of equality, women should make as much money as men. Sure, that's merry but why doesn't this apply to the elite level? We're commoners for gods sake. I don't see rich white men (this can also be other colors) caring much about gender equality, anymore than how much pocket change he has to dish out to give to bob the server at Caesar's palace. How does this have anything to do with a white girl in a foreign country trying to find a piece of heaven? Well, economy is everything and the West is a capitalist society. Obviously, one of the main attractions for Westerners to work as English teachers in Asia is the lucrative pay.

Therefore, a white girl, for whatever her reasons are in despising or disliking foreign men, must incorporate all these factors, before she can unconditionally and indiscriminately justify her heart and decision.
