How is the PLA supposed to take over Taiwan when they can't get from point A, mainland China, to point B, Taiwan?? By teleportation, ie. Star Trek technology???

That always gets a laugh. Taiwan's modern air force for those who keeps track of the military develop from both side of the strait lags behind the PLAAF in both quantity and quality. And most importantly, if conflict does break out, there would be no air field on the island for the "Taiwan modern air force" to take off from. China can't even project force 100 miles from its shores? Even unguided rockets has over 100 mile range. What a clueless fool.

The appearance of Chinese editions of expeditionary fighting vehicles (CEFV/CAAAV amphibious assault vehicles) has fundamentally changed the mode of cross-sea combat operations in the Taiwan Strait, making beyond-vision landing assaults possible. The practical significance is that these vehicles can greatly suppress and weaken the artillery projection capability of the Taiwanese ground forces, which is critical for their survival in beachhead fighting.

The emergence of the CEFVs also makes the defense of the Penghu Islands much more difficult, as defending forces would face reinforced high-speed armored assault firepower. Once the Penghus are taken, the CEFVs and other heavy hovercraft may very likely be employed to launch beyond-vision landing assaults on Taiwan Island without the escort of landing craft.

Good perspective as reflected in your rely. Taiwanese are Chinese and they know China will attack if they break that one cardinal rule of provacation. Otherwise, peaceful takeover is much more sought option than any other.

China can take over Taiwan with what they have now. They have that capability.

btw, Taiwan only recently under a different elected party. Previoulsy, there was only ONE party (KMT) and it was led by the Chiang dynasty that was authoritarian.

That would be a resounding NO! Chinese and Russian planes are not up to the same level as Western manufactured planes!! It is idiotic to even suggest such a ridiculous notion.

Chinese and Russian military are based on quantitative advantage not qualitative advantage as in the West. The avionics is different, the manufacturing process is different, the quality control is different, R&D budget, etc.

Almost all G-7 countries used US planes because the market for advanced warplanes determine the best producer! US wins, Chinese and Russian suck!
