i dont really see any disagreement with you. i agree that the usa gov often has ulterior motives for wars, and americans r not given the complete story. we get 1 side of the story, which is the govs justification of the war. we r presented with inflamed info to make the ppl we attack look like the devil. the other side of the story is hidden. before americans r dragged into wars, proudly cuz they think they r fighting the devil, we sd know both sides of the story and if there r alternatives.
we r often encouraged to hate various groups by the media and gov. the hatred just keeps growing. telling half a story is a lie. there r 2 or > sides to every story. everyone gets the stories that tell them they r on the 'right' side and the other side is evil. that keeps things simple, but wrong.
as i said, i support wikileaks. we ALL need it cuz no govt is open enuf with their own ppl. some confidentiality may be necessary but it has gone WAY too far. leaks have become the ONLY way to give the ppl more complete info.
there has also apparently been some info in wl abt swedish gov secrecy, but i havent been able to find out exactly what the leaks said. i have only seen some references to arms deals and cooperation in some 'controversial' usa activities.
swedes hold their courts in high regard and trust them to deal with the assange charges and extradition fairly. this is just as mistaken as americans putting full faith in our courts. when there is politics [or power] involved in any court decision, fairness and openness go out the window. the usa gov will and i think has already gotten involved in the [stupid] sex charges, which r not our business. the involvement is o/c 'legal' in that they offer to assist the prosecution side. nothing illegal abt a little help. but the motive is obviously politically and wrongfully motivated. and i have every reason to suspect that usa secret pressure will be applied in hi places to find him guilty

wanted him for questioning, they didnt try to question him while he was in sweden. on the contrary, they kicked him out of sweden [over some 'legal' issue they had over his place of residence.]
did wl hurt usa nat'l security? tho politicians have made that accusation, it doesnt appear to be true. just more inflamed rhetoric with no substantiation. nat'l security is always the reason given. also, at this point, both the state dept and pentagon quietly admit that the leaks dont damage usa nat'l security.
did wl expose ppl to danger? the usa has never backed up the claim and it appears to have been disproven.
also, from the beginning, wl asked the usa and svl human rights orgs to redact the info so that security wasnt breached and innocent ppl were not hurt. the usa gov initially refused. they may be doing that now as wl has kept the offer to the usa open.
i think that wl has shown incredible integrity and honesty. if govs showed half as much honesty, we wdnt need leaks.
