Who Was Jesus, the Man?

He was God, walking the earth in human flesh.

So, I've found Samuel Adams Black Lager to be quite pleasant. I'm not a big fan of really hoppy beers, like Sam Pale Ale, and I don't like big American by-the-pitcher beers like Budweiser or Miller, nor do I do tourist beers like Red Stripe or Foster's. Guinness is perfectly enjoyable. I like a beer with a bit of body to it, with some nice maltiness and maybe a little woody smokiness, too. The hard part is getting the right amount of head on the beer, though. I had one where I accidentally made the mug half head, then my next one was almost no head. I'm not very practiced at pouring. Anyone have a good simple technique for bottle beer pouring?

Jesus was a Jewish reformist rabbi and son of a carpenter (and through that carpenter, the heir to the house of David). He was married to a young woman named Mary or Miriam (known today as the Magdalene) who herself was descended from Aaron. He was supposed to lead a long planned for and anticipated (the battle plans were found among the Dead Sea scrolls...) revolt against the Romans, but saw the folly of such an attempt, tried to chart a new course, and was set up to take the fall by the (understandably) dissappointed zealots that would have made up the core of his army.

His wisdom in seeing the folly of open war with Rome was proven accurate a few decades after his death when the revolt did happen, and failed with the fall of Mosada.

While he did live long enough to be aware of the corrupting influence Peter and Paul were having on his movement, for some reason, he made no attempt to break up their plans. It is unlikely he ever saw his wife again after she and their children fled with Jesus's brother Joseph of Arimathea to Gaul to escape Peter's (or more likely Paul's) machinations against them. Jesus himself eventually moved into Asia Minor, and there he dissappears into the mists of time, though there are some hints he may have gone east. There is a tomb some claim to be his in the foothills of the Himilayas.

Jesus was totally chill. Besides being able to turn water into wine He thumbed Hose nose at the institutionalized religion of His time, spoke out against religious hypocrisy and hung out with the people who many, many felt so morally superior too.

Jesus, I can assure you, would have a field day with the fundies if He decided to start posting on Topix.

Where are you getting this from? Sounds like a good story but, as far as I know, Jesus and Mary were never romantically involved, much less married, and instead of moving to Asia He was killed on the cross at the age of 33.

Tilt the glass at a 45 degree angle and pour slowly.
Or just stick a straw in the bottle and suck.

Jesus's time on the cross was apparently cut short and his death faked (which was possible to do if done right). This was done with the collusion of the governor, for otherwise why would his body have been turned over to his brother rather than left for the crows or the next time that cross was needed?

Can you mention the titles of some of your books. People don't want to know the real guy they like the fairytale version.

small? Im sure it is, like Davinci code and the subsequent companion fiction storys...but lets not call it small, but rather narrow. theres less proof for this story-line than there is for the supposed real one.

there is actualy very little information known about the real life of jesus. it wouldnt fill many pages at all. so all this other nonsense is just that - nonsense and pure speculation.

I wasn't going to bring DaVinci Code into this, but since you brought it up first you vile little twit...

Code was an excellent read. Do I take it as authoritative fact? No. But it brought the question up. I went looking for an answer. If the best you can do for a counter is childish invective and pitiful attempts at character assassination, I have nothing to worry about.

By the way, I do happen to agree with the idea presented in Code concerning the presence of Mary Magdalene at the right hand of her husband Jesus in The Last Supper as opposed to an effeminate John.
