In the news, Sudanese Government said it would not engage South Sudan on oil dossier before security issues are settled.
Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, said that the meeting between President Al Bashir and President Kiir would open doors for more trust between the two parties and would facilitate work of the negotiating team.
He said President Al Bashir stressed the importance of priority for security issues and Sudan negotiators in Addis Ababa would act accordingly.
Karti denied agreement on transportation of South Sudans oil across Sudan territory, saying priority would be given to security issues.
Minister of Foreign Affairs insisted that if Sudan feels that South Sudan is no longer a security threat and support to rebels in South Kordofan and Blue Nile States is ceased, it will negotiate on issue of oil.
However, the issue of the dialogue between Sudan and South Sudan became the main topic in the inside and outside domains due to its consequences in resolving the outstanding issues.
We believe that dialogue became one of the sciences in high education, considering that the efficiency and realization of the negotiators for the demands of the other party, besides the chances to reach a compromise through the scientific methods would definitely lead to the aspired goals.
In our case we continued insisting on the necessity of resolving the security issue before starting on dialogue over the economic ones such as oil transit crisis, despite the advises of the political experts which suggest starting with the economic issue as it will lead to the dissolution of all the disputes.
It goes without saying that the Republic of South Sudan is witnessing an economic crisis, a matter that makes it more ready to reach a reasonable compromise on the oil transit fees, and the same could be said for the Republic of Sudan.
The current economical crisis in the two Sudans necessitates pushing forward the dialogue over economical parallel to the security tile.
That doesn’t mean that we are not considering the security issues as priority.
On the contrary we are insisting that the security issues must be resolved, but at the same time we see that it is important to advance the economic file, considering that it has its consequences in the stability.
