(LeN- 2007 July 24, 6.30 PM) The Chief Co-coordinator of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party People�s Wing Sripathi Suriyaarachchi asks how the Rajapakse Brothers Company purchased the Baththaramulla White House for Rs. 260 million after the Presidential, if his statement that he had money neither to give to the Tigers nor to spend for the election is true. The said mansion earlier belonged to the owners of A.S.P. property trading company.

Mr. Suriyaarachchi posed this question to to the President during the UNP and SLFP-PW joint press briefing held today at the official residence of the opposition leader.

He said that there could be a shortage of money because Basil Rajapakse gave a bag filled with Rs. 200 million that was allocated to spend for the Presidential to the LTTE. Mr. Suriyaarachchi said that LTTE was given money first in dollars and then in rupees and he had the numbers of the notes given. He said that they will be produced before the public soon and he could prove these allegations if the President resigns from the post.

Mr. Suriyaarachchi challenged the President to say 'no' to the charge he made that the President gave millions of rupees to a company belonged to the wife of Emil Kanthan via a cabinet paper signed by him, during the battle for Mavilaru was in full throttle.

As Far as we are concerned we all are brothers, Dick head like you trying to divide and make money out of it.
After 400 years of foreign rule our people were narrow minded and divided in all part of Sri Lanka. This was done by various people for there own benefits.
Lack of education and narrow minded thinking were rules of the day.
For example in Jaffna it was true people from one village will show prejudice against another village, and cast system was there to divide one against another. Thank god cast system is no longer a big issue to the new generations. I hope this curse is gone for good.
There may have been some regional differences between Jaffna Tamils and baticalo Tamils before but as a 2nd generation after independence we hate this stupidity like hell.
I did not even know there was some kind of division until this stupid karuna's split.
Even after 25 years of war with Singhala governments we ordinary Tamils don't hate ordinary Singhala people, we don't bite each others ears when we see each others.
Great many of my friends are Singhalese.
Even in UK there are regional differences, scotish and Irish don't like English. English don't like any body who breaths, but when it comes to country they will all unite and come under one Umbrella.
That is why they are rich.

Abducted engineer’s body found in Puwakpitiya

The body of a Tamil Communication Engineer, who was reportedly abducted by an unknown gang demanding a ransom of Rs.5 million, was found yesterday in the Awissawella area after police arrested two suspects over the weekend.

The victim identified as Vigneswara Kadasaranath Mahodaral (27) was reported missing on July 15 when he was returning home from Wellawatta with his father.

Kotahena police arrested two Tamil nationals on Saturday and when questioned it was reported that the two had admitted responsibility for the abduction of Mr. Vigneswara.

The police said the two suspects had given directions to the place where the victim was killed and the body dumped, a remote rubber estate in Puwakpitiya in Awissawella. The body was unearthed by the Kotahena police with the assistance of the Awissawella police.

According to Kotahena police the victim, an electronics and communication degree holder from the Madras University had been awaiting a suitable job after returning to the country on completion of his education.

Victim’s father who is a well known dentist had told the police that soon after the disappearance of their son an unidentified caller had demanded a sum of Rs.5 million for his release.

The caller had phoned several times demanding the money but the family members had expressed their inability to pay such a big amount.

According to the Crime Detection Bureau of the Kotahena police the two suspects identified as Kanna and Seelan were arrested from Mutwal and one of them was a frequent visitor to the Kotahena police station.

It was reported that one of these suspects who ran a welding shop, once worked at the victim’s house to repair an iron grill.

Police detectives believe that several more persons are involved in the abduction drama. Kotahena police Chief Inspector Neranjan Abeywardena and SI Atula are conducting investigations.

In Colombo most of the abductions are joint venture between Karuna and King of all Abductions Gothabaya Rajapakse.
Colombo supposed to be a high security area.
Nothing moves with out the Gothabaya Rajapakse's knowledge.

COLOMBO (Reuters)- Hundreds of relatives of Sri Lankan civilians who have disappeared amid renewed civil war between the state and Tamil Tiger rebels called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa's government on Wednesday to find them.

Rights groups say hundreds of people, many of them minority ethnic Tamils, have been reported abducted or disappeared this year and 1,000 more in 2006. Rebels, paramilitaries, elements of the security forces, and underworld gangs have all been blamed.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka: Hundreds of Sri Lankans, many carrying photos of their abducted relatives, tearfully demanded Wednesday that the government investigate the fates of scores of minority Tamils who have "disappeared" across the country in recent months.

Civil rights groups say more than 100 ethnic Tamils have been kidnapped amid the new wave of fighting between Tamil Tiger rebels and the government, which is controlled by the majority Sinhalese community. The fighting has plunged parts of the country into chaos and displaced tens of thousands of people.

Shaking with emotion, Thevani Yogarajan, 50, said her husband, a Pentecostal minister, and two sons, both in their 20s, have not been heard from since they went to the capital, Colombo, in March to get passports so they could travel to India and escape the fighting.

"Give me my innocent children. They haven't harmed anyone. Please give them back," she wailed to the crowd at the rally in Colombo organized by the Civil Monitoring Commission, a group that campaigns against abductions.

"How can I live when three members of my family have gone missing?" she asked before fainting.
