Why this hatred?

I come to see that the level of hatred and destruction on this forum reaching almost suffocating proportions. To all Sinhalese Buddhists, is this what Buddha taught us? Is this the conduct expected of us to attain Nibbana? Is this for what we meticulously read and recite the Dhammapada? To all Tamil Hindu and Christian brothers and sisters, is this the gist of the teachings of Krishna, Rama, or Jesus Christ? Is this what you think will carry you over to moksha or the celestial kingdom of god? Is this for what you imbibe the scriptures of the vedas and upanishads, or attend mass?

I fully understand the difficulties of the circumstance in Sri Lanka and everything that has happened over the past thirty years, but it is time for reconciliation my brothers. Not just Tamil and Sinhala, but all children of this world. The fires of hatred will engulf us if we can not put aside past grievances and become modest individuals of the world. This world is impermanent, our time is short and we should maximize that by accumulating good karma with whatever is presented to us. So please, I urge everyone reading this to transcend the mara (illusion) of this world which has left humanity defeated.

OK Agreed, How about start with reconciling by giving bac all the land (EElam) stolen from the Tamils in an unjust war, have an internation Criminal court session started on war crimes by Srilanan Terrorists and their leaders and LTTE etc etc. Have a compensation plan set up for the victims of war crimes starting from the day of Independence from the British. Every kind of unjust racit laws repealed. These distortions of history by a frustrated bunch of Tamil Separatists, is an eye opener to the International Community who had been gullible enough to believe their previous fabrications such as discrimination, oppression etc (which helped them to get refugee status in foreign countries and live on free social benefits from the tax payer’s funds), to what low levels these people could stoop to, to continue to deceive the Westerners and live on their handouts.

These Tamil separatists with no self esteem, might as well say that the whole of Sri Lanka (in pre-colonial times known as Sinhale ) as well as the whole of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, were populated with Buddhist Tamils, Hindu Tamils, Christian Tamils and Muslim Tamils, who spoke different languages used in those regions and therefore, today have the right to demand separate states in each of the Indian states as well as Bangladesh and Pakistan?

When you dig up so called Tamil history in the North and East you find the ruins of Sinhala civilisation beneath.
Even the world “eelam” is the corrupted Tamil/South Indian word for “Sinhale”/”Sinhala”. As that is the name given to this land for its inhabitants by its inhabitants. It is only in 2007 they realised this “mistake” and changed it to Eezham or something like that. For all this time they had been demanding a “Tamil eelam” they were calling for a “Tamil land of the Sinhalese”. Their whole “homeland” project was nothing more than theft and deceit engraved in the name itself. That said Tamil culture is built on theft and deceit and they have no problem with doing so if it means self-advancement.

Dear brother Punc what is the reason behind this hatred? The LTTE were inhumane and cruel fanatics, but how low of us to think of the utter turmoil surrounding Tamils since 09 as "just pay back". Holding such grudges will destroy you my brother. Pay no heed to the seductive element of rage or being vindictive, no god ever wanted to see the dire straits that his children are suffering in this world.

But why go through all this difficulty? Can Sinhalese and Tamils simply not embrace as fellow human brothers/sisters and all live throughout Sri Lanka (and the world) in peace? Why this demand for a separate land in the North and East? I do agree however that any law discriminating against a particular group of people should be abolished. The disorder of humanity is not just in tact with Sri Lankans, but all humans.
