I understand the feelings of loss when a beloved pet dies, but this is truly absurd. These clones are NOT her pet that died. They are replicas. I can't understand this kind of juvenile mindset of "I want my ____(insert applicable word) back"....and then pay out tremendous sums of money. Money that could feed homeless animals or humans in need. How ridiculous. What's next? Will our vanity cause us to want 'spitting images' of ourselves to be cloned? Will we, in our arrogance, ever know when we've gone far too far? Just because the technology is there, doesn't mean that it should be utilized, particularly in such a frivolous manner. Grow up Ms. McKinney. You could have dozens of clones, and NONE of them will be the one that you lost. He's gone.

I recently lost my soulmate Poe; my cat who was only 3 years old, so I can understand the desire to duplicate the one you loved. But obviously the clones aren't the same animal, and just think of how much good that money would have done if donated to a shelter. And she could have gotten a perfectly wonderful new pet there as well. Shame on the company doing the cloning for commerical purposes.

If this woman really loved her dog, she wouldn't have cloned him. She isn't replacing her lost pet, she is playing God. This woman, in fact, has lost her own soul.

A person is very vulnerable after something or someone he/she loves dies.

There's a moral dilemma in here somewhere, but this is too bazaar to figure out right now. Hope she gets her money's worth.

There are millions of dogs being euthanized everyday. We certainly didn't need more pit bulls. Wish she would have adopted one from the shelter.

I can think of better ways to waste money how about giving it to ASPCA or give the money to the homeless

I would have given her one of my Beloved Boogers for nothing.

Another example of someone with more money than brains. The cloned beast will suffer as did Dolly the sheep, from a variety of defects and early aging conditions that will torture it. With all of the millions of animals needing care, the fruit of supposed pet lovers recklessness, whaay can this woman adopt? Dogs and cats ... the worst invasive species on the planet; their owners ... the most selfish and deluded people.

Sick, sick, sick! In addition to her hand surgery, the woman needs a brain transplant.

Love my dogs
|
A few years ago my little Yorkie that I had died in an accident. I was devestated and I miss her to this day. But, I have since gotten two more dogs whom I simply adore. I enjoy each animal's unique and distinct personality. I would never think of getting a clone. I am also comforted by the knowledge that, not only will I see my family and friends again who have died, but also my pets.

How could you name your dog "Booger"? How disgusting! Yuk.

She sold her house to clone her dead dog. Why do morons think that these so-called clones will be the exact same animal? It's DNA and experiences that make up an individual. She would honor her dog more by saving one from destruction from a shelter than by selfishly trying to have it replicated by science. I would love to have my pets live as long as me, but that's the way things are. You're meant to enjoy life for as long as you have it, and love others as long as you have them.
Wow, that's kinda prophetic. I'll have to write that one down.
Like a previous poster said, "more money than brains."

Name Game

Very noble idea, but she actually named her dog Booger? Why not Snotty, or Assrag, or nipplepincher? Rex or Rover would have been better.

enough with this story! It has been on here for much too long, enough is enough! Can't Newsdays reporters find something else to write about! This is not the only story that is repeated over and over again, enough!

Justine wrote: How could you name your dog "Booger"? How disgusting! Yuk. The same dunce that would name the pet they are supposed to love "Booger", is the same loser that would clone it.

Um...yeah, this story is completely false. There's only been one dog in history that has actually been cloned, an Afghan Hound named Snuppy. And it was done by a very shady scientist from South Korea. No one has cloned puppies, much less this loon. She's paid for them, but she doesn't have them. And I doubt she ever will. Where the hell did this bull come from?

"beloved" and "pitbull" don't belong in the same sentence. This owner is a complete idiot. Why would you want to perptuate the same rotten kind of miserable dog? Pit bull owners are a really weird kind of people.
