IOW, China is on the solid path to de facto take over North Korea soon enuff - economically, militarily, iff not also politically.
The Marines, etc. are there to deter or preeempt the Chinese PLA from crossing the inter-Korean DMZ into whats left of the ancient state of Korye, aka South Korea.
