Finally Zelaya is showing his true colors to the international community. I don't know if anyone else agrees with me. We are so close and he still insists on being reinstated. Geez its not hard to see that he is the one holding up the whole process now. Why are we even dealing with him anymore when the US will recognize elections regardless of the outcome. Zelaya does not even have unity government members even picked so the members of Congress will unlikely take him seriously or much less vote for him. Honduras has a clear reason to move on to elections and tell Zelaya to take a hike. Honduras has what they want the Constitution intact and full recognition on the outcome of the elections.

He said something stupid like them asking for a list to submit to the verification commission was offensive and that Micheletti canīt head the unity government that he has to...but no one guaranteed him that and the agreement certainly does not say that it says that the Congress will decide and that both Micheletti and Zelaya have to live with what is decided.

Mel's colors were always red(communist). The line has been drawn in Latin America and Honduras (like a few other brave countries such as Columbia)will not join the Bolivian Revolution under the misguided leadership of Dictator Hugo Chavez. Honduras will be Free at last. Thank God Almighty. |

"Though the coup leaders accuse Zelaya of seeking to extend his stay in office, any potential constitutional change to allow presidential re-election would not have taken place until well after the incumbent stepped down."
This writer sounds as if he is suggesting that since Zelaya would supposedly be out of office by the time a change took place (a questionable supposition) the action of the Honduran government was unnecessary. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it true that under the Honduran Constitution, even attempting to change the law in order to extend Presidential terms in office is grounds for removal? |

talk about drawing a line, I am concerned that the Narcos are the ones behind kidnapping and killing prominent people (Callejas brother). They are the ones with the most to lose if the Honduran Goverment has succesfull elections. With Mexico and the US fighting up north my feeling is that the drug war has been pushed down to Honduras. They have had a good parnership with Mel they would hate to lose it. I just find it hard to believe Honduran brothers against each other over politics are capable killing like that. I just hope. |

Lou, I might be wrong as I have been wrong before, but personally after all of the threats I think that Zelaya ordered his assasination to scare Callejas into being quiet...he read Callejas wrong though if he thinks that this will shut him up...it is more likely to turn into an all out battle between the two and Zelaya might find himself lamenting over his own family members if he isnīt careful.

Callejas is an ex president of the opposition party in Honduras. He was president from 1990-1994 and is well respected here. He is also the president of the national soccer league. Both Callejas and his brother were outspoken critics of Zelaya and openly said that the destitution was legal and that Zelaya was a lawbreaker that belonged in prison. Since Callejas is an ex president that carries some clout. Another outspoken ex president is Ricardo Maduro also from the opposition party, but Zelaya doesnīt have the īhuevosīto touch any members of his family as Maduro is the president that made it to the presidency after a gang kidnapped and murdered his son even though they had paid the ransom. He declared war on the gang members and segregated the gang in the prison and the one that was responsible for the death of his son ended up burned alive in a prison here in SPS. It is estimated that 5,000 gang members either fled or were killed during his tenure as president...and the crime rate plummeted like a rock falling in a lake.
