The old New Amesterdam Hospital is part of the town history and I believe the structure should be maintained as such.

New Amsterdam Public Hospital is a timber architectural masterpiece, which was design by world renowned architect Cesar Castellani in 1881.

Indeed this historical building should be preserve; effort should be made by the government of Guyana to contact the International Centre for the Study of Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property, which usually finance preservations of building that qualify.

Cesar Castellani designed few other buildings in Guyana, includes, Brickdam Cathedral; Castellani House; the Brickdam Police Station; and I think also Victoria Law Courts.

Dude, the search engines are helpful but, just need to attend high school and visit castellani house on the corner of Vlissengen Rd and homestretch avenue.
This building was one of burnam residence, now, its a museum.
The associated compound have an Olympic size swimming pool(50mx25m) used by the public and the presidential guard buildings, now houses the customs and anti narcotic unit(CANU).
The N/A hospital is a amazing piece of victorian architecture , the Government of Guyana should make an effort to restore, like they did the Red House.

Yes, it is significant but should we really concentrate on the old builing when there are many who would agree that thge same amount of resoures can be used to better the new one

I was born at NA hospital, sometimes old things should be redesign in such a way that it does not take away the beauty from the old. And let take into consideration that a lot of great minds was born there.

it is a good idea to maintain the building but we also have to determine a suitable purpose for it after. maybe it can be a source of revenue. use it as a government office building then it will be properly maintained.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Pisces

Mercury's retro phase in Capricorn will raise questions in your mind about a friend or loved one during the next two weeks. You might wonder what they're playing at and have to ask them to be straight with you, or you could work hard at overcoming the current problems between you so you're able to enter a much more positive phase in your relationship.
