Well, that didn't take long did it? An assassination attempt and a murder within a fortnight of your first government in over two decades.

And the response on here? None, apart from one post concerning the usual obsession with race & identity, the rest of you squabbling about 'What would you think if a Somalia girl looked like a Bantu, but had hair like an Arab and had once held hands with a Cadaan?'

Your poor country is f*!#ed.

''An assassination attempt and a murder within a fortnight of your first government in over two decades.''

At least we have an excuse for these criminal acts. Our country has practically been a lawless state for over two decades, instilling law and order will take some time. This is to be expected

What excuses shall we give the United States for their record number of Assassinations on governmental officials or US politicians?

''Assassinated American Politicians

''Your poor country is f*!#ed''

No its not

If one of the world's most powerful country can cope with countless assassination attempts on their politicians, I think we can cope just fine.

Once we have de-armed the country, these attacks will no longer be an issue.

Why don΄t you move back there and help civilize your own people? Being born in Britian doesn΄t make you a Briton. Go back to Zoomalia and help your fellow zoo dwellers. You΄re not needed nor wanted here. Stop being a parasite and go home. You negroes have since long overstayed your welcome.

We haven't finished civilising you yet. Clearly a lot of work still needs to be done.

Hey, I keep asking you about your leader and you keep avoiding the question. How's Mr Lennon doing these days?

Ruby,I can't claim to be an expert on American politics, far from it, but I know that regardless of assassinations ,they have never been a governless country for over two decades. You say if America can cope with said assassinations then you'll be able to cope is just wishful thinking on your part,as is your claim that once Somalia is 'dis-armed' these issues will no longer be a concern.
Your country is riven by clanism, tribalism, insularity,b igotry and a damning identity crisis which is all too apparent on this forum.
Please don't take this as a personal attack, you are one of the few voices of reason on here, but I think your country has many deeply ingrained, divisive issues that appear to be insurmountable...and it's nobody's fault but your own.
Respect to you &keep up the good work.:-)

''Your country is riven by clanism, tribalism, insularity,b igotry and a damning identity crisis which is all too apparent on this forum''

I don't understand how you can use the hundred or so posters on an internet forum as being representative of an entire nation. Tribalism and bigotry aren't restricted to Somalis only. These are human traits and I could provide examples of bigotry and tribalism from almost every country in the world.

The disarmament of armed militias is a vital component in securing peace and stability. I don't think its wishful thinking to claim that a Somalia that doesn't have thousands of weapons on the streets will be a safer place, not just for our politicians but for the majority of Somalis.

I used American as an example because they have a functioning government, democracy, free markets, a free press, a strong military, a well funded police force. Yet despite all of this, they have a long history of political assassinations.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-121...

I'm very confident in our abilities as a nation to overcome our past struggles. While these attacks are unfortunate and disappointing, they certainly won't deter us.

If the hundred or so posters on here aren't representative of their country, then who or what are they representative of exactly? Of course your country is not alone in experiencing tribalism and bigotry, but that does not in any way temper the damning effect it has upon it.
The same goes for America's history of assassinations. You claim that inspite of these actions they still have a functioning democracy which is true. Again this is not pertinent to Somalia which most certainly does not...

In essence,I agree with you, but simply do not share your sense of optimism in Somalia's ability to become a peaceful, united country anytime soon,if ever.

'' Again this is not pertinent to Somalia which most certainly does not''

We've just had Presidential elections. This can't be said for many countries around the world. How much democracy do you think the people of Angola, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, North Korea, China, Cambodia, Belarus, Azerbaijan have?

Our politicians have just passed a landmark constitution whereby our law makers recognise that all ''citizens, regardless of sex, religion, social or economic status, political opinion, clan, disability, occupation, birth or dialect shall have equal rights and duties before the law''. I wonder how many countries around the world would be willing to live by these principles?

What is it about the Somali people that makes them ( in your eyes) unable to live in peace. What makes our civil war any different to the thousands of wars that have occurred before, and that will occur after?

You seem to be implying that there is something inherently wrong with us as a people. And if my assumption is correct, then doesn't this make you a tad bit racist?

I mean just because you're not going around calling people baboons doesn't mean you're not actually a bigot yourself. And there's nothing worse then a intellectual racist, because they really should know better.

Ruby,I was disappointed with your accusations of my being a racist & bigot.Being critical of a country's inability to establish and maintain a peaceful democracy is not racism, but simple criticism, albeit it somewhat cynical.

I am neither a racist nor bigot, nor am I a baboon or homosexual, not that that should be of any importance, save on here. You want ugly racism, look no further than the posts preceding mine. God help you...

Anyway, I'm off to Spain Ruby, but I genuinely wish you and your peoples a prosperous & united future.

''Being critical of a country's inability to establish and maintain a peaceful democracy is not racism, but simple criticism, albeit it somewhat cynical.''

No, but the belief that there is something inherently wrong with the somali community which makes them unwilling or unable to seek a peaceful and united country is ridiculous. There is nothing unique about Somalia and the Somali people. They are humans like everybody else. The idea that Somalis would prefer to live in a lawless state, and be in a state of constant conflict, because we're just a bunch of barbarians that don't know any better is racist. You didn't say this, but you implied it.

Anyway, have fun in Spain. Take care
