Don't buy anything when driving through Slovenia!! They are ripping you off as it is. Make them suffer for it.
It does not make any sense to pay 35Eur for 50 km.

Gokhan Pamuk: I really hope I'm not gonna die any day soon. John: you can also take country roads to get to know our country beauties better. Protester: petrol is less expensive in Slovenia than in neighbouring countries, you should buy it there, you will save some money. Driving Around: our motorways will be less crowded because of you.

Slovenia is one of the most beautifull countries in EU. And we wanna keep it this way.
We have a lot of transit traffic (pass-by travelers to Balkan countries, trucks), especially in summer months. And at the and of the day, we have nothing much left from this transit travellers. If this would be our tourists, this vignettes could be calculated in hotel price for example. But to sponsor pass-by traveller with very cheap toll, what was practice before we implement vignettes, we do not help our environment and our roads at all. To preserve beautifull and clean EU country, we must take also this kind of "rules" into consediration. At the end of the day, everyboday pays the same price. Advice: Vignette`s are expensive for 1 trip for example 50 kilometers, but at the other hand you can easily avoid high road and travel through normal roads. You will know the country much better and you will know what I`m talking about. We should preserve clean and beautifull environment. |

Hail Slovenia. I am an American, with Slovenian bloodlines. My ancestors were from the Gottscheer region. Everything I read about this country makes me love it more every day. I have the national anthem of Slovenia on my computer and it is beautiful, gentle and civilized. I hope to go there soon. I don't care if I see any other part of Europe!

i'm not dying to drive on the highways of slovenia. it was just because it's the shortest route from eastern europe to italy. if there would be any other alternative, slovenia would even make it free..

1 in the old days we always stopped for a nice lunch somewhere in slovenia, spent some money in a local shop if we needed something, stopped for petrol etc etc. guess what i'm saying is over the years i've contributed a fair amount of cash to the local slovenian economy but this vignette shit means i'll be spending my money elsewhere now ... unless of course slovenia's transport minister gets back in the real world and comes up with a much fairer toll system - say a one day vignette. now, before all the stupid, rude slovenian nationalists on this forum start telling me to fuck off back to london and the usual shit racists come out with, please consider this: vignette - 35 euros lost revenue because we won't be stopping in slovenia - 100 euros multiplied by maybe a million foreign families now doing the same thing (because hungary is also a beautiful country)= a shit load of euros slovenia won't be getting this summer and every other summer until it introduces a much fairer vignette for drivers like me. also please consider this - as far as i am concerned you slovenians are always welcome in my country but not one of you fuckers will be ripped off with motorway tolls as you drive around the uk because we basically don't have any. just my feelings on this issue. have a nice day everybody. |

tony hi,
how much you pay traveling trough Austria, or perhaps France, Italy, not to mention Croatia. Everyone is pised on out vignetta price. For 6 months is cheap, for one time traveller also. If you go to Croatia and back you pay before vignetta cca27 Euro on tolls and you travel more slovly. I never understand people complaining on such trivia as 35Euro is ,when you go on holiday. How much cost you chanell crossing? Nothing is free today. |

1 apologies for my delay in replying to your post but as you know my family and i were enjoying the beautiful croatian coast and have just returned to the uk. in some ways i take your point but in answer to your questions: the ferry was £31 return. i drove dunkirk to lille and then through belgium, luxembourg and germany without paying tolls. in austria i paid e7.50 or was it e9.50 for their vignette (can't remember exactly but also a bit of a rip off by the way - 10 day vignette for a 2 or 3 hour drive) and about the same for a couple of their tunnels). in slovenia i paid e35 for the 10 minutes of motorway at maribor (that is 100% rip off whatever way you want to put it across to me). in croatia i paid e2 for the motorway from the border to zagreb from which i went down the old road to zadar (free) and with a very nice, reasonably priced meal in some roadside restaurant near karlovac. so your argument doesn't really stand up does it?though i guess the most important thing i've got to say is .... because i feel so ripped off by the vignette i paid for 10 minutes of motorway at maribor i did not stop to buy anything in slovenia like i always have done in the past. i guess maybe e100 to e120 the people of your country didn't get from me this time. but if i'd have been able to buy a reaonably priced one day vignette your country would have got way more money from me at the petrol station, a restaurant, in a food shop somewhere as well. infact your government would certainly have taken more from me in pdv tax!! anyway - just my views on this issue. best wishes tony |

I have just driven through Sloveniaa, intending to use the standard roads, rather than the Motorway. I was dismayed when trying to avoid the new section near Ptuj, we were forced to go onto the motorway as all othet roads leading south to the border had been blocked with piles of rubble. After driving the two kilometres to the end of the motorway, I could see the vignette police with their binoculars, trying to pick out those vehicles without vignettes, ready to pounce on with them with an 800 euro fine. Luckily they missed me. It's descpicable, like bandits living off passing travellers.

Tony I understand your point. I know you can get cheap ferry when you bought it weeks in advance, but what for someone who buy it the same day. I bougt ferry ticket for £110 one way because I was one hour late.
I know that buying vignetta just for part of motorway near Maribor is rip off, but can't understand whay you buy it. If you drove in Croatia on local roads you could do the same in Slovenia. It's free. |
||||
Bunch of lies. All roads where blocked hahaha. And for the info fine for not having vignetta is 300 Euro or 150 Euro if paying strait away. But still incredible high, but also all other fines in Slovenia are incredible high. You must be very carefull when driving there. |

Then please stop using Oresund Bridge connecting Sweden to Denmark. It's not even 8 km long and the toll is 34 EUR. Next time you'll go back home to visit your family in central Bosnia swim from Swedish coast to Denmark and then hitchhike on to Banja Luka. |
||||
No problem, they're most welcome. |
||||
Keep hoping and dreaming! Besides, f... you too! |
||||
Too bad they missed you. They should have given you an 8.000 EUR fine just for being so retarded. And a life probation of entering Slovenia again. I sincerely hope next time they'll have more luck. |
