ASs I remember and perhaps my brain is failing?

About 1972 when the airport was built on Mahe, British Airways also were involved as a partner in building a hotel close to the airport called the Reef Hotel.

I used to love to go there on a Friday or Saturday evening when they had a local band playing and we could dance the night away.

But now I can find no mention of the Reef Hotel anywhere.

The others are there, Beau Valon, Coral Strand etc. But no Reef Hotel!

Where has it gone ???

It was always a bit quiet there compared to the Coral Strand. But good for a change.

The Reef Hotel/Appartments is a different building and location. On the inland side of the road.

The Reef hotel was built adjacent to the beach.

It was fairly small by hotel standards, probably only two or three stories. It had a large restaurant area, central bar and then the band and dance floor area.

I think the whole downstairs area was open towards the sea.

It really was a lovely place on the evenings the band played. But perhaps thats just because I like dancing to live music?

So where has it gone?

Tony
