US House votes to deny all aid to Saudi Arabia

“By cutting off aid and closing the loophole we send a clear message to the Saudi Arabian government that they must be a true ally in advancing peace in the Middle East”

The US House of Representatives has voted to deny all aid to Saudi Arabia, despite repeated assurances by the administration the desert kingdom was cooperating with the United States in the war on terror. via New Straits Times

all efforts by g. bush to sacrafice american lives for oil and especially oil from saudi arabia, and to give what they refer to as aid is a bribe to allow this to happen and for a base in saudia arabia to provide the means to sacrafice american lives for oil, all of these efforts are supported by the failed republician religion party. the failed republician religion wants to convert all middle easterners to baptist. all religions are myth.

I think Saudi Arabia makes a better friend than enemy. Yes, Saudi has its nuts, but many of their most influential citizens are moderate and recognize that the USA is a better friend than enemy. I think the US House is full of crooks and fools, most of whom lack the integrity one finds at the top in Saudi Arabia. We do need to vote out all incumbents and try to eliminate both big parties in 2008 and beyond.

It's my understanding that 15 of the 19 terrorists who hit the WTC and the Pentagon were in fact Saudi's. With FRIENDS like that who the hell needs enemies.?

They were indeed, and they were trained and financed largely in Germany. There is not an iota of proof that these a-holes were sent by the Saudi government. We needn't kiss anyone's rear to keep them as friends, but it is foolish to attack another country, even financially, absent proof that they were the proximate cause of an act of terror. Oops, we already did that to Iraq; maybe congress missed that point when they voted.

Saudi is one of the most wealthy nations in the world with it billions and billions of "oil dollars" pouring into it's coffers by the hour!! Why does such a nation even need financial aid from the US?? It is idiotic to give this aid while the cost of living in the USA continues to increase. The cost of gasoline in question! Three years ago I could fill my pickup up with gas for $25.00. Now it cost 75.00. My Social Security has increased less than $20.00 in the past year. So just who needs aid. I think millions of Senior Citizens here at home need it!!

I believe the aid is called "aid in kind" and likely is in the form of repair parts for gear we sold them and for training and support of that gear. As is, it is sort of a way to keep our defense industries producing (and as such is reprehensible). Sometimes there will be offsets, for instance they have to buy US commercial goods or provide, say, oil for our strategic reserves...or port and airfield access. Maybe your Senator can explain to you the details of this and you can fill us all in.

Pardon me, but why would we send money to Saudi Arabia? Did the gov't forget that they have billions of petro dollars. What aid do they need from us? Its a damn shame that we can help everyone else and constantly keep looking for ways to cut much needed services for our children and seniors.

Has anyone read the book "House of Bush, House of Saud"? it is a must read. Every American should read how this whole damn war started and why the whole Bush admin is wicked and needs to go. There are 2 governments at work and one of them is doing things that will bring this country down. Its all about the black gold!!!!

Like I said, our aid to the KSA is not in cash, usually, but is the value of our military assistance, such as training their police to do better antiterrorism work, and sometimes the value of repair parts for US military gear they purchased. The money may go back to the US firms supplying the parts or doing the training by way of the Saudi banks. Yes, it is pork barrel spending, but Congress is so very stupid to deliberately stick their finger in the eye of Saudi Arabia just now.

Bush is the problem! Stupid, stuborn, and totally pro Big Business. He and those in Congress who vote for the amnesty Bill are selling us out to enrich big business and to allow the illegals to vote us out of our own country.

I dunno, congress ain't exactly a bunch of saintly statesmen. I agree on the amnesty thing. Time to just vote both parties out of office. All of em.

Congratulations on your English lessons. If you passed your course, your instructor should be fired. You sound like a fool here; study up and come back when you can speak clearly.

it was 2.5 million $ given to finance few travels of Saudi military personnel to the US and it was rejected by KSA in the beginning but the US insisted to give it because the Kingdom has its own "Jihad" against the Khawarej traitors (Al Qaedah)

I personally have respect for the KSA. We must not let the fools in congress or in the Kingdom damage a fine friendship.

If Saudi stops demanding paper dollars printed by the US government in payment for all oil, the dollar will very rapidly become worthless and the cost of living will rocket, hyperinflation. They're doing you a truly astounding favour,(arranged in 1972/3). The other half of the deal was that the US supports the House of Saudi regime against their political adversaries.

Now... You stop supporting them, they dump their dollar reserves and demand Euros instead?... Then the USA has to buy Euros in order to buy oil ... Using an already devalued dollar currency ...

Eggg-zactly!! And I think the aid was for training on US military equipment. One can never underestimate our congress.
