They use respectful words just as alofa 777 stated and also metaphors.
Like I stated above " Tatou tu'i le muli papaga" to support a cause. But it litterally means , We shall strike(tu'i) papagas' ass (or buttox) lol true story lol. The story goes like this.

Their was a known warrior.(I forget his name. But his dad (papaga) was crippled and senile. But everytime his son was to go to war the father would strike his back side or his ass if you may, to show his son that he was supporting him. Hence the term "Tatou tu'i le muli papaga" litteral terms, to strike papagas ass. Cheifly term- to support.
This is why cheif talking is sometimes hard to comprehend , you have to know meanings and where each saying derived from. Manu Samoa also uses this saying in their song. Meaning the people support them.

I agree but with one exception Tokelaun and Tongan are the most similar languages to Samoan.

* In Tonga the Royal Language/Terms is the most similar language to Samoan for it consists of various Samoan Terms.

As for the Samoan Language:

The whole Samoan Language in general is very complex/difficult for it deals with formal and informal forms of our language.

* The informal form is pretty easy for it is like the basics to the Samoan Language that almost every Samoan learns as a child etc.......

* The formal form is where it gets complicated and hard for it is the highest form of the Samoan Language and takes many years to Master for it deals with Respect, Rank, Geneology, Past Events, Royal Lines and so forth.

How about Tuvaluan? Does it resemble Samoan in a strong way?

Actually, I don't buy this list nor accept it as it was probably formed up by some bitchazz palagi anthropologist... My question was directed you fellow Samoans who speak the language and hoping for your individual perspectives as you, as Samoans would better answer it than a foreign anthropologist/linguist fiapoko...

Thanks, TOA, but those lists and references that you come with mean nothing to me. I want an individual basis answer from you and your fellow Samoans when I ask questions about your culture and language. Not from some educated/hypothesis/theorist freak that never lived in our polynesian shoes, to dictate for us. Malo

Well too bad PolyKING you can't it. It's inevitable and as much as you hate to admit, that list is perfect. So your opinion means nothing to us and more importantly it means nothing to the linguists who sought the connection of the Samoan dialect to other Polynesian dialects through much research. Should I be happy? Absolutely!!! Most of these islands speak the SAMOIC DIALECT. It will remain their as it has been for the beginning of time and it will remain their for the next 1000 years long after you're gone...;D
