Any other religion other than Christianity you mean ikilliYou? Or would you feel ok that Mosques and Shrines be built and that Islam and Bhuddism and Hinduism be accepted into Samoa also?
I think Samoa has strayed away from its foundation. Jehovah. Samoa must be careful its still not too late to sink with rising sea levels. When Ofa and Val hit Samoa people were quick to turn back to God. Now that things are sweet and enjoyable Samoa is opening her self up to other things.
I dont agree with other religions but Christianity in Samoa.

Hi all.
I'm really disturbed with the last few comments. I might be coming to Somoa to assist in development of the State. I am a practicising Muslim and would like to freely practice my belief. Why should anyone object to this? Was Christianity the original religion of Somoans or was it introduced to them? What would have happened if the early Somoans objected to the new faith of Christianity being introduced on their island? In this globalized world there needs to be more tolerance of other beliefs.

Hi back..lol..its Samoa not Somoa...first off which Samoa are you talking about there are 2 different Samoa...the Independent Island nation of Samoa which is in the west and American Samoa which is a territory of the USA..they are under different administrations but one people n one culture...i think youll find that Samoans are some of the most tolerant people in the world so I guess you will have no problem practising your own beliefs there but as far as introducing Muslim as a full fledge religion..no chance of that happening...our country was founded on God and its Christian beliefs...if theres one important thing that you need to understand about us Samoans is that our culture and Christianity are interwoven and has become a fabric of who we are as a people and has been for more than a 100 years

Good Luck

You might go to Samoa? If you do, you will see that Samoa is like many Islamic nations the only difference is that its Christian and its not the kind of Chritianity that has been watered down over the centuries in Europe either. Its hard core Christianity NOT Bible bashing or running around converting or else Hell but the kind of Christianity that is steeped into the fabric of Samoan society as sister Proud has mentioned. Im sorry if ive offended you by my previous comment but the truth is as a half Samoan and a practising Christian in Japan i can only say God forbid Islam from entering Samoa. And im being tolerant.

Hey all!
Well im a Samoan, and YES im Muslim. I find it really disgusting that such Samoans would be hating on other religions? I thought Christianity taught you guys how to respect others? and how to love one another no matter what differences they may hold. Everyone has the right to their own beliefs in Samoa, not everyone has to follow Christianity. I, being a Samoan-Muslim was brought up into a Christian family, with a Samoan-Muslim mother, explains my religion. But there are actually quiet a few Muslims living in Samoa, theres no problem.

I'm Samoan and I am a christian but i ain't no bible bashing, fanatic church going freak! In fact i don't go to church at all for the mere fact that god/lord/jesus is not housed in-between four walls! Besides there is too much 'faa-Samoa' that has been mixed in with the church that i absolutely detest!! Christianity DOES teach us to love and respect others - does muslim not teach the same???
A few of my work colleagues are muslims but i'm afraid the majority of the islamic fanatics in the last few decades have cast all muslims in a very bad light. It is this kind of fanatiscism that I hope all Samoans wake up to!

I too am Christian. While growing up in Samoa there was never a violent disagreement due to the differences in worship. When I was there as long as all believed that there was one true God how they worshiped Him was not an issue. Granted the only Churches that existed at that time were Catholic, Seventh Day, Assembly of God, and Latter Day Saints.

However, I do not allow the negative actions of islamic fanatics influence my thoughts and my opinions of the muslim faith. If our saviour entered a tax collector's home even against his follower's wishes because he loved everyone. I see no reason why any Christian should be spiteful against others. Of course this is only my thought.

I agree with you "alofa777"..there should'nt be any reason why Christians should hate on another religion in this case Muslims, but given the climate and whats going on globally, sometimes people react out of fear rather than any underlying malice. I think we can all concede that this kind of attitude whether its driven by fear or our own perception is not applicable only to Samoans per say but rather a universal phenomena.Mind you that is my own personal opinion.

However having said that,if we were to follow one of the "Golden Rules" in our Samoan culture since we all share a common heritage.."O le aganu'u Samoa e alofa i so'o se tasi" and practice what we preach, then I see no reason why practising one's religious beliefs should be a problem in Samoa.

Great Topic, I think this will help all of us broaden our visions through worthwhile discussions and mutual interchange of ideas, after all the common denominator as far as I can detect is "attitude"..change attitude and barriers will follow.

I too agree with your point of view "Proud Hamo". I have attended different denominations in my life and though there are differences I cannot deny that those experiences were quite enlightening. In a way, I saw that no matter how different our ways of worship is the one act that seems to be the same in any church, temple, chapel or whatever suits your preference, is the strength of prayer. No matter where you are one can always speak to God through prayer. It is the one act I found that connects all factors of religion I have had the pleasure to experience.

With Respect.

I agree with "alofa777" and "proud hamo", no matter how the religions in Samoa differ, they all worship the one Same God, in different ways. The only "religion" I wouldn't accept at all in Samoa, is all this scientology crap ! a big no no for me. But as a Samoan-Muslim, yes people of the same religion we suffer from verbal and physical abuse, because of these radical islamic terrorists, and then the media makes it out as if all Muslims are the same, but really we're not.

So as a Samoan Muslim is Christ your Saviour? Is He your Redeemer? Do you acknowledge Him as the Son of God?

TamaSamoa hello i am very interested in your comment about the differences of beliefs in Samoa yet worshipping the same God.
Samoa is founded upon one God. Jehovah. Does Islam also acknowledge this same name also to being that of Allah`s name?
I dont want to start a battle in here but i will disagree with the comment you made that Muslims and Christians worship the same God in Samoa. There are many denominations in Samoa from Evangelical to Penticostal and Mainstream though different in methods and style of worship yet the name of Jesus Christ the belief of his birth death resurection and return are the foundations of what Samoan Christians believe. There is no mention that Samoans worship the same god as to Allah or even acknowledge Mohammed as a prophet as reveared in Islam. I dont want to come across as wanting to attack you. As a Samoan to Samoan i respect you on the grounds of Fa`aaloalo but as a Christian i will refute any comment that Samoan Christians and Muslims worship the same Atua.

First off...TamaSamoa I don't think anyone was really bashing Islam before your post. And Proud Hamo, Samoa wasn't founded on or by Christianity. Anyway to get back to the the question posted by IKILLYOU. I don't think we should be worried. I mean the only reason why some of these monkeys are is because they watch too much FOX NEWS or TV for that matter. I know plenty of good Muslims and I'd say for the most part they're fine. Just like and people.

Lastly this was posted by POLU; "i reckon, scientology is a cult or sect, not a religion. they brainwash people..simple as that." Right...cos all other religions can't be accused of the same thing.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Leo

If you're worried about running up big debts in what is usually one of the most expensive months of the year, start keeping a running total of how much money you've spent so far. You might have to restrict the amount you spend on Christmas presents, or make other savings in order to stay within your budget, but you realize the folly of ending up severely out of pocket.
